Love the commute videos. I got a Super Cub I haven't used for commute yet. It's 150 miles round trip, and at 4:30 in the morning the idea of being able to ride in the car and drink coffee wins out over taking the Super Cub. Maybe one day the Super Cub will win out :D

Wow... 150 miles is a serious commute! You'd probably save a ton on fuel with the Cub, but it would take longer and wouldn't be as comfortable, that's certain. 😉👍 --QM

Seeing the excitement of getting the backpack under the seat tells me you ‘really’ need to put some thought into an Xmax. I think you’d happy with it. You can put your laptop and lunch bag 😅. Heck, add a top case and you can even stop for some groceries on the way home.

15:11 Thanks to your videos I just got myself a 2011 C3. Despite 31k miles on the ODO it is faster than my 2019 Ruckus was, and holds speed better on uphills with my hefty 360lbs on top of it... Really impressed so far.

I enjoyed that commute. A more “rural” side to the Houston area on the way to your client. Still cracks me up that you’re baking or stewing in heat and humidity and here in our UK summer, my early morning ride to work is a bit on the cool side.

I’ve got a 23 Pcx 160. Bought new, at around 1600 miles on the odometer currently. I mostly ride it to and from work 5 miles each way are about 45mph. Decent amount of stop lights. I average 101-103 calculated at the pump. I do have a national cycle touring screen which I think really helps with aerodynamics. But it’s still down from the 108-110 I used to get on my 2015 Pcx 150.

Is there a good place to attach highway pegs? Would you have to cut through some plastic?
@QuasiRAW
3 күн бұрын
That's a good question! I think you'd need to cut holes in the floorboard plastics to fit aftermarket pegs of any flavor. This Zuma has 2 small holes in the forward portions of the floorboard where a crash guard was previously mounted. Neil removed the extra guards when he purchased the scoot from the original owner. That would be the most likely starting point for highway pegs because there must be a solid frame mounting point in that area. 😉👍 --QM

that zuma looks like it would be more at home on asphalt than concrete roads, I know houston roads can literally beat the shit out of tires and suspension..lol
@QuasiRAW
22 күн бұрын
Agreed! Houston's concrete roadways are jagged and brutal. The Zuma's front suspension is very chattery and harsh, so I think a fork upgrade would help to smooth it out. 😉👍 --QM

I was hoping this was the machine you alluded to a couple of weeks ago. My 2023 Zuma specifies 22 psi in the front tire, 29 psi in the rear tire. Any upgrades you would suggest? I am considering adding an Airhawk and a set of Michelin City Grip 2’s? Thanks for the videos.
@QuasiRAW
23 күн бұрын
I thought running the tires a bit higher might help the squishy cornering feel, but it's just making the front end even rougher. These knobbies just squirm and fade away on the edges... not very confidnece-inspiring in the corners. I haven't ridden them on wet pavement yet to know how that works, but I'm not expecting anything good. I think a set of Michelin CG2's on the Zuma would be great for the street. If you need off-road tread, then Heidenau K58's or Shinko SR246's might work well. Beyond that, I think the front forks are in dire need of re-valving. A YSS fork upgrade kit (upgraded springs with PD valves) would do wonders for the Zuma's front end. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Have you ever tried a ruckus?
@QuasiRAW
22 күн бұрын
Yes! The Ruckus is a fun scoot, but its 50cc carbureted engine is pretty anemic. The Navi 110 smokes the Ruckus in terms of acceleration and power, as does my Yamaha C3 50cc. The Ruckus is cool and minimalistic, but quite slow and limited compared to other scooters. 😉👍 --QM

That's a great question! I would need to ride a TW again for a few hundred miles to make a fresh comparison. My initial thought is that the Zuma is "easier" to get along with in city life and as a quick runaround tool. The TW will definitely be more comfortable and "capable" overall due to its standard motorcycle layout and super cushy wheels & suspension. My big gripes with the Zuma so far are its small wheels, crappy tires, and VERY rough suspension. With a front fork upgrade (YSS or similar) and a set of decent tires, the Zuma might improve in my ridability index. You might skim through this follow-up Zuma ride vlog, where I discuss the rough suspension more during my 70-mile commute day: kzitem.info/news/bejne/kn18166Qm6aim6g . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
