Hi Kate, just had to hop on to your comments to thank you. The other day I was listening to you while doing some batch cooking and you talked about being fuzzy and you thought it might be because you hadn’t been without a podcast or video or tv or radio in a longtime and I could relate. As a long time meditator and vipassana silent retreat practicer, I realized I also, have not been taking enough time unplugged. I turned it all off for the past few days and spirit is talking to me so clearly now… my intuition and insight is so happy, it’s exploding. You and I are so in tuned. I am 69 and widowed, but we care about the same things and I always gain inspiration from you. I’ll be back for more, for sure. I just don’t want it in all my waking hours!! 🥰 Time unplugged is very important!

This is a huge message from Spirit through you! I just finished the cruise and read my spiritual book on the ship 🛳️ and it kept repeating to do vipassana 15 minutes twice a day. I told Oregon that I get the message loud and clear to take this seriously and now here you are, yet another message.🙏❤️

as i got older, i could not wear other people's clothing or use other people's cooking utensils/equipment. Just something that happened to me and i can't buy much at a thrift store now. I used to use thrift all the time for many things, and the goodwill too. Just a quirk that popped up in my 40's. I was a tag sale giver and finder...actually, they have gotten very unpopular here. People put free things out on their lawns now----no sales...and many donation boxes and pick up services have caught on here very much.

I never had a vacation as a child growing up - just little mini trips. It didn't hurt me a bit. As an adult - camping was the big excitement - no vacas. I wanted debt free living more. Everyone has a different viewpoint - but we can justify anything!!!!! Just saying. I always thought about the 'anticipation is always greater than the reality'. I have found that to be the case always!! I guess I am old fashioned - being a housewife and a mom is the best pay ever - not monetary in any way.

I never had a holiday from age 11 (when my dad died) until age 45. Not even a honeymoon! Just camping. I grew up being taught that you don't go into debt for "wants", except for a mortgage. So, no holidays. Staycations yes. No vacations til there's no debt. We paid off our house + 2 rental properties 10 yrs ago. Since then, we've travelled A LOT! It's so much more enjoyable when you know you can afford it. But, I've been frugal for so long, I'm still "cheap" on vacation. Still cook every meal & no souvenirs. It's still a vacation! You're right about 2 things: people can justify anything. People get to live however they want. Secondly, the anticipation is underrated. We get excited about vacations. But, a week after it's over, your life is still the same. So, contentment in the "day-to-day" is really critical. You have to live for the 358 days all the same; not the 7 days of vacation.♥️🇨🇦

Hi Kate. I'm baking and am going to cook tacos for dinner. I ordered several of your books. My sons are grown and I've been a widow for 2 1/2 years and I love decorating my home and learning how to redo some things I've done here in the past when I was in my learning phase of painting etc. I do a lot of scratch cooking. Especially for me because of health issues. My sons are older and buy a lot of foods they like that I don't eat. I make my own dog food. It's a running joke because my sons will be in the fridge thinking what they're in the mood for and often ask is this for the dog or is it your healthy stuff. I'm 65 and still like being a homemaker and learning how to live without my husband who was the love of my life. It's hard but I am making progress. I like learning and doing and its good for my sons to know Im okay. I'm so glad you're here. Your talks are good for my heart and psyche. We can learn no matter what age we are. We raised our sons in many ways similar to you and Balli. Scratch cooking, thrift shopping. I loved it. Thanks. ❤

Hi Kate! Enjoying my coffee, doing my husband ‘s laundry (separately because he works in a restaurant and it is very dirty!), and making a nice roast for Sunday dinner. I have both worked and stayed home and staying at home (especially with kids, I had 3 beautiful boys) is much harder. But I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. I am retired now and my husband (2nd) still works, as he is younger than me. Cougar I guess😂😳🙄 Anyway, I do everything at the house except mowing the lawn and grilling. Grocery shopping, cleaning, painting, maintenance, lawn care/gardening (again except for mowing)… It works fine for us and is cheaper than when we were both working Opposite schedules, rarely saw each other, or shared a meal together, not enough sleep, etc. Do what works for you and your family. Always! Love from SC!😊💕🏝️

Going back and listening and I'm in vlog # 25 and am the place where you're making Molly's food and just wanted to come on and say that dog food, cat food, are relatively a new thing. My mom and dad's generation ended up doing what their parents did which is making the animal's food from left over table scraps and gravy. Pet food came into being maybe in the 50's? I don't remember because my dad always made our doggies food from veggies, frozen Hill's horsemeat and leftovers from the table. Long way of answering your question of yes ... veggies are good for your animals. What isn't good is the grain loaded kibble ... that can give them diabetes.

You and your family deserves that cruise. Yes write a book. Because my family and I are frugal as all get out but we travel. Being frugal affords is the opportunity to travel and see the world. Geeze what are we here for to just sit at home and not enjoy and explore this beautiful universe given to us. My son and I read a book 12x12. It was a big turning point for my family. We don’t drink, smoke, gamble or spend our hard earned money on material things but frugally travel. I can’t wait for the cruise video. I hope y’all are going to ports I’ve never been. I have to catch up with the videos but I can’t wait for my virtual vacation through Kate 🤣

@southla7581

@@CoffeeWithKate4 sorry sometimes my brain thinks but doesn’t articulate 🤣. Yes 12x12 is a book. When our now 32yr old son was 5yrs old, we purchased a double lifetime membership to what use to be A Yogi Bear campground. Back then it cost around $5400.00 plus yearly maintenance fee of $400. We could and still can camp for two weeks straight and have to leave for three days then you can come back for two weeks. When we just paid off the membership we were one of the only members to win a golf cart. Brand new $5000.00 cart. We sold it for $4000.00. So our membership was actually almost free. Recently the campground was bought out and has been making huge improvements. Cabin Wars did a Tv show and redid several of the cabins. Only 25 of the members decided to continue and pay $1500.00 a year maintenance fees. If we needed to we could actually live for under $2000.00 a year by staying there, coming home couple days and going back. No utilities, no grass to cut. 🤣 It’s just far enough from home to call it a vacation. Hour 1/2 drive. We have close friends who we always travel with and they always split the costs of everything. We did a stupid thing after my mother in law passed of cancer and purchased a timeshare. They played on our emotions. But I can honestly say we have not been disappointed. We unfortunately have too much vacation and not enough time to take them right now. I can work from home but my husband who is a therapist would take a hit by only providing telemedicine. We have blessed so many with vacation accommodations. You just have to not bother with their pushing you to go to a one hr (haha never 1 hour) mtg. I always tell them I’m not with my husband and they leave me alone. I bring my friend who is in a wheelchair. She actually cried when she rolled into her room for first time at one of the resorts and she was able to get into the shower and actually take a shower. So it’s times like those that makes it all worth it. So I guess you have to find a friend with a timeshare, too many vacation time and can’t use it all. 🤣 The kids are in travel soccer so we use those tournament weekends as mini getaways too.
