My female partner has had her hgv 1 licence for a few years. She has some good references and has helped make drivers who have got stuck manouvering their trucks, however she has told me she had struggles getting even an interviews for hgv 1 jobs. Plus she has had negative comments when men see a woman driving a large truck. There still is alot of sexism still.

Lorry driving is very diverse. I worked in steel haulage and there's no comparison between that and something like fridge work. I agree the slider flex bodies are a pain in the arse. The only upsides to them are that they are usually very low in height and you are not sheeting the load with all the extra work that involves. If you still enjoy the driving aspect then why not try containers or fridge work? Yes some fridge work involves manual tipping but some jobs it's non existent. Anyway, all the best in whatever your next career is.

Maybe consider general haulage, or even Amazon contract work. Now you have experience sign on to a few agencies and only accept work that suits you. There are many driving jobs out there where you never touch the load. By being on an agency you can try lots of different jobs, working for various companies until you find something that fits your criteria. As I mentioned in a comment on a past vlog, I used to work at KTS back in the 90s, and my farther was the garage foreman there for quite a few years, my mother was also the office cleaner for a while. Andrew and David were always decent friendly people. Best wishes to you for the future.
