Thank you for your comment and subscription! I'm thrilled to receive a comment from Scotland! Yes, Nagasaki is a very beautiful city. I love this city, and interestingly, over 100 years ago, a Scottish person fell in love with Nagasaki too. His name is Thomas Blake Glover, who has become very famous in Nagasaki and is still loved and respected by many people here :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Blake_Glover glover-garden.jp/

Your description of Nagasaki's "sloped areas" reminds me a little bit of the neighborhood of Montmarte in Paris, and not simply because of the hills. Like Montmarte, it feels like your sloped areas have a look and culture that is slightly different from the rest of Nagasaki. From how you portray your neighborhood in your videos, the place feels a little bit slower in lifestyle, a bit more "down to earth" from the main city. It's a very nice portrait you are painting. Thank you! (You are also making me hungry for miso soup. I wish I could get lotus root that fresh!)

Thank you for the comment! I saw some pictures of Montmartre. It's a very beautiful area, and I want to visit someday! Yes, compared to the city center, sloped areas have a bit of a different lifestyle and atmosphere, which I really like and enjoy. Also, I feel that Nagasaki is a city where urban (city center), local (sloped areas), and natural elements (like the sea, mountains, and rivers) come together in a compact and very well-balanced manner. ( By the way, Sorry for making you hungry :D )

Hi - your blogs are really good - but can I ask why you put your computer desk in the old Butsudan area. Better you restore this Butsudan area with a nice wall scroll, ikebana plant and photo of your family. It would look really good and add harmony and peace to your house. Just a thought - please keep posting these great videos. Best of luck with the english lessons. Kind regards from Australia. John.

Wow! You seem very familiar with Japanese culture! Yes, it would be nice 😆 When I moved here, I couldn't find a better place for a workspace, and this space seemed suitable (even though it's not originally for it...lol), so I set up my workspace here. But, as you mentioned, I want to improve this area in the future! I'm thrilled to receive a comment from Australia!🇦🇺 Thank you!

what was the bag you threw in the water at around the 4:00 mark?
@life_in_nagasaki
Ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment! That is a bag for making bonito broth. In Japan, when making miso soup, we make broth using ingredients like kelp, dried sardines, and bonito flakes. Recently, I've been really into these bonito broth bags. Just by boiling it on medium heat for 5 minutes, you can get a very delicious broth.
