I have played a lot of the same repertoire that you show in your vlogs, which makes me nostalgic for those times. I was never at the level you are, but so enjoyed playing (especially the French early 20th century music) with my piano accompanist. Making music together was a hugely rewarding gift. I still play, but have transitioned to some other instruments as well. Altho, every time I watch you, I feel inspired and pick up my flute once again. Thanks for the vlogs!

Nice vlog! You've got the balance just right, between rehearsal footage, chat footage, and day-to-day life stuff, including giving props to other local musicians. Also, the message not to compare oneself to others is super important to hammer home.

Your recital repertoire is sounding fabulous! This is incredibly random, but I love the black shoes you're wearing early in this video and I'm super curious what kind of shoes they are. The combination of cute and functional is kind of tough to find in a shoe, and if a Manhattan resident is wearing them, they're made for walking!

I also play flute and I was wondering what flute you play on the most/prefer. I am looking for a professional flute but I am not in the budget for a Powell or anything super expensive. I had my heart set on the Gemeinhardt 33SB but it's on backorder for months and months, just like pretty much everything they offer. I am looking for something with excellent quality without completely breaking the bank.

I love these vlogs! It's really nice getting a sneak peek into your rehearsals. you sound so lovely. I moved cities during the pandemic, and although I do get high quality gigs in my new city, they're not terribly frequent. I've been thinking about putting on my own recital just to have a bigger goal to work towards, besides orchestral auditions which can be so soul-draining. This is inspiring me, as I've never played Copland! And I think I want to. Thanks again for sharing!

I have never done any recitals. I play for pleasure but will be looking for a flute teacher next year. I want to get back to the level that I was playing at in junior college. Right now I'm waiting for my flute to get out of the shop. There's only one repair shop near me and sadly they're backed up. It's been a month since it went into the shop. They told me 5-6 weeks for turn around time. I bought a piccolo and it was playing beautifully when I first got it but one of the pads is loose. I keep having to push it up. Currently I have nothing to play. ☹️

I was totally in the same boat as you with watching the Concours de Genève! I caught myself slipping into that comparison mindset sometimes, but I was also able to find such inspiration in everyone’s playing ☺️
