Thanks Zan. I wish I had remembered to ask Nancy if I could share one or two photos of their trip to Tofino. Also, Nancy wants to surf some more AND hook Darren on the sport also.

What a lovely day to share with us. A very early morning walk, but when the dog says its time they are the boss! I would never have thought of that sort of herb & cream cheese mix, but that looks delicious! Ill have to try something like it. OUTside & Falling back in love look great, have to check my library !

Thank you Rebecca! A small amount of foraged herbs can go a long way when prepared like this. You could also mix them into mayo, butter or hummus. The Out Side anthology is in the Hoopla collection, if your library has that database.

@@lindysmagpiereads yes, they do have it only on Hoopla! My search also brought up what looks like a perfect option for Picture This - Outside In by Deborah Underwood with a copy at my branch, so this was an excellent rabbit trail to go down!

I watched this as an adjinct to my reading of Transitions this weekend. I'm so glad I did. I'm fascinated by the glimpse into your diet Lindy! So impressively healthy. And you have knife skills!! I'm also astonished at you collecting tea leaves to dye fabric. I see that your partner is a poet, and I presume that signed artwork is hers too! Gosh what a couple you two are! Amazing women, both of you. But are you really up before 5 to walk the dog? I only get up at 5 for international flights.... I can access one collection of Ali Blythe's poetry on hoopla.

@@LouiseReader Thanks for watching my vlog. 🥰 I love to cook. And to make all kinds of things. Laurie was a sports reporter and newspaper editor for over 30 years and now she focuses on her own writing. And painting. I’m pleased that Aly Blythe’s poetry is available in Australia. Oh, and unlike you, I have always been an early riser. I usually go to bed at 9 and get up at 5.

@@lindysmagpiereads I saw you making dandelion jelly somewhere. What do you do with it? How does it taste? Do you use an online recipe? I have quite the collection coming up on my front lawn.

@@LouiseReader Dandelion jelly has a delicate floral flavour, like honey. If you include a small amount of the sepals (green part) when steeping the blossoms, you will get a touch of bitterness to add complexity. Use it on toast or to flavour plain yogurt, or between layers of cake… or any way you would usually use jam. You can find recipes online; it’s called cramaillotte in France.

Great vlog, Lindy! 😊 Your teapot cozy is so cute! 🫖 I adore Hazel Jane Plante's writing and her podcast. Have you read Little Blue Encyclopedia? Kai Cheng Thom's books and Ivan Coyote's books are fantastic too. I'll have to add the comics collection to my list - it sounds like something I'd really enjoy. 🩵

Thank for your comments! 🥰 I bought a teapot cozy of the same design in a craft shop in Dunedin NZ in 2002, then someone who follows me on Litsy spotted it and mentioned she had the knitting pattern for it, so she sent it to me. I was pleased to knit myself a new cozy because the old one was getting ratty. I adore Hazel Jane Plante also! I’ve read both of her novels and even the poetry collection her ex wrote about Plante’s transition - The Small Way by Onjana Yawnghwe. (Yawnghwe also did the artwork in Little Blue Encyclopedia.) Does your local library have the Hoopla database? That’s where I found the trans comics anthology.

Bish this is so effing cool!! Thank you so much for doing this!! 🏳⚧ So many great trans books in that pile! Clocked lots of Vivek Shreya! I'm a bad trans and have yet to read Stone Butch Blues 😭 was unfamiliar with Ali Blythe, but his work sounds so good!! My Life in Transition sounds so good I want to read that ASAP!!! OMG Why have I never listened to t4t?? Oh yeah I've heard a lot of people on T can't cry, really unfortunate side effect 😔 Love Ryka Aoki & Kai Cheng Thom! Haven't been able to read Thom's new book yet! It sounds like gorgeous writing, I definitely need to pick it up soon!! I'm not big on self-help books either, but a little bit within a larger work sounds nice!

I’m a huge fan of Vivek; she’s mega multi-talented, as is Kai Cheng. In Falling Back in Love with Being Human, I realized that it didn’t matter that the self-help notes between each piece didn’t work for me because all the rest of it, the letters full of love, were exactly what I needed. A reminder that love is stronger than hate. And a reminder that the things on which we focus our energy and celebrate, those are the things that shape our outlook and how we feel about ourselves. If my only focus is on injustice and lack, I miss out on all the joy in being alive. Does that sound too self-help-y?
