the goal and dream of Dimash was to introduce the world to the culture of Kazakhstan. Folk instruments, national costumes, a song in the Kazakh language. The history of this song is real and very sad. The performance of this song at the contest was the goal of Dimash. Because Dimash immensely loves his country, his people.Тhank you❤

Thank you, for the Beautiful reaction! This is a traditional Kazakh instrument called a dombra. Dimash made a quick trip back home to recruit the musicians from his alma mater, the National University of the Arts. The small group standing in front of the audience are professors from there too. The costume was also designed by students in the fashion design department. The song was written by a Kazakh poet and writer who was a nationalist and therefore a political dissident in the days of Soviet domination. He was sent to hard labor in Siberia, and there he was told (untruthfully) that his wife had left him. This song describes himself lifting a pen and writing to her asking why. Reportedly, after this performance, Dimash broke down in tears backstage, saying, I did it! Finally I did it! I brought Kazakh music to the world!

"The voice range is wide, probably, thanks to the fact that in children's chorus teachers demanded from him the upper notes. That is he sang both for the girl and boy. And he was angry and refused to sing as the girl. We persuaded him. He was very lucky with voice training teachers" I think thats why he sounded just like a soprano when he likes.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for your reaction! Dimash is playing the dombra, a traditional Kazakh instrument. This is the episode he is most proud of because he was able to bring Kazakh traditions to a very large audience. I very much appreciate you pointing out some of the little nuances that my “normal” ear doesn’t pick up on.

Great again - thank you!! The Dombra is a traditional Kazakh instrument - it only has 2 strings!! Damash and the musicians behind him are all wearing traditional Kazakh costumes, they were brought in to support him - they are from his music college, and the 4 people standing in front of the audience are teachers from the school. This performance meant a lot to Dimash - he always wants to show the culture of Kazakhstan to the world - and thanks to Singer he was able to do that with this song. Hope you will do more - if you do ep 8 - Daybreak - it is great also - but he was sick (you can't really tell) and had lost his voice the day before. He had injections in his throat, just to be able to talk, and was told not to sing high notes - - would love to hear what you have to say about the performance.

As always, very grateful reaction and analysis on Dimash performance. Yes it is a traditional instrument called Dumbra. This instrument is popularly used by all ages. His grandfather is a skilled Dumbra player. The next episode is Daybreak. I encourage you to watch both performances at the Singer and Bastau concert. In the Singer performance , he was very ill, got sick a day before the performance and had a injection of some medication at the throat area so you may notice the difference of the performances. Thank you again for your continued support on Dimash.

Thanks a lot for an amazing reaction. As always very useful. By the way, about instrument Dimash is playing, it's Kazakh national instrument - dombra. It has only two strings! only two! I used to play our (Ukrainian) national instrument - bandura and it has 68 strings! it's also very difficult to play... but I can't imagine how talented Kazakh people are when they play the instrument which has only 2 strings.... Unbelievable

Hi, soon you may react to his Daybreak performance. He got sick and lost his voice the day before he performed the song Daybreak. In order to have voice, he had to inject in his throat. I think the performance Daybreak is definitely a perfect show. You may even hear some audio correction in it. But because the song is very sorrow, his crack in his voice I think strengthened the sadness of the song.

This is a very famous song in his native Kazakhstan. At the turn of the last century the Turkic Kazakhstan were nearly wiped out by the Russians. One of their dissenters was imprisoned and sentenced to die. While in prison he wrote this song as he remembered his wife as the moon shone through his cell. The words in translation will bring you to tears.

Hello, yes, that's what talent means. Your first reaction to S.O.S was very arrogant, talked about some sort of voice processing, but listening further, it became obvious that this is the VOICE of Dimash so sounds. And it is clear that he struck you, and made him look at him differently. And already the rest of your wonderful analyzes (although I do not know English, I use subtitles), but according to your records you can see what you understand in the technique of vocals. A good way to slow down speed. Thanks and I look forward to your new analyzes of Dimash. Sorry for the bad english, I use google translator.

13:44 -- He also sounds like he's ending this phrase in a tiny pained cry WITH the tongue roll as well which just makes it all that more impressive!

Love your reaction and analyses... Superb!!! Waiting for your reaction on his " Hello" and on his "Screaming". From your analyses, I appreciate more and admire more Dimash's singing and vocal skills. Thank you very much RnB!!!

Dimash just launched a new original song and video that is just waiting for you to react to. It's called SCREAMING. Watch the video instead of just listening to the song.

This is a Dombro, a Kazakh instrument. This song was for his grandparents, you will see them shown a few times. They taught him the song.
