I think Billie Eilish represents a natural counter movement to the sound of the last decade(s) -- for many years various talent shows celebrated those who sang loud, high and with lots of ad-libs. And to do that right obviously takes a lot of skill. But I do think a lot of emotional depth is lost, if that would be the only type of vocalist we ever heard in songs. Billie Eilish is the opposite in so many ways: Mostly just a very soft, very controlled voice, more playing with timbre than pitch. I think as an artist, that means she can express emotions with so much more variation than what we've become used to.
@sycamore2656
4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you for the most part, but Billie's predecessors like Lana del Rey created the counter movement( not created, but made it popular) Billie just came in the right time, cuz neither Lana or Lorde wanted to sell their artistic vision. This created a hole, that could be filled with Billie, that's why she got popular, but in no way did she paved the way.

THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT I WAS SAYING WHEN PPL COMPARE HER TO ADELE AND ARIANA(they are great ofc) but she is very much dif. Her such makes it easy to sing but it has a much deeper sense or meaning behind it. Just because you can sing it, doesnt make you equal or better than her. If you can make a much better music, and portray it well like hers then good. But you gotta appreciate the way she does it with finneas well. AT A YOUNG AGE TOO. The emotion in her songs are portrayed so well, thats the reason why she wins so many grammy's. Simple but flawless singing with very powerful meaning is greater than singing is well with very common or simple chorus. With no depth and such. Its all great but it becomed boring, it doesnt fit different moods.

She’s so right up my alley. Not necessarily in terms of genre or type of singing, but overall. I mean, I like that she sings not like a demon but like she’s an angel who got cursed. And when she’s not singing she’s hilarious and so well-spoken and really mature. Also love that creepy aesthetic she’s got going on. I love disturbing images, and she‘s definitely onto something with the spiders coming out of her mouth, Conjuring imagery, needles, dead stares and crying charcoal. Love it. Also I love that she actively doesn’t care about being sexy or attractive. If I was a teenager I would so love to be her friend because she sounds like a blast to be around and also like she gets my aesthetic and general attitude. this was my first video of yours - loved how you loved it! Billie made me tear up, you made me think of the technique and you get so lost in her singing and forget that its a Bond song, and then bam - wow thats an epic Bond theme! thank you!

So I'm 32 and a rocker at heart, and have just become a huge Billie fan, she's quite amazing and her sound ,along with Finneas and his amazing talents, are together some sort of a phenomenon! I never comment on these videos, but Rebecca you are awesome! I've been binging you're videos and I love your commentary, especially on Pearl Jam about Eddie Vedder. Sorry this is so long, but just wanted to send much love your way...don't stop doing what you're doing girl! #BEYOURSELF P.S. If u can, react to Adam Levine doing Purple Rain at Howard Stern's birthday party, it's pretty amazing.

Admittedly, without being an aficionado of the vocal arts, i akin doing a bond song well as being like winning the heavyweight championship of the world in boxing. The song has to embolden equal parts danger, mystery, sexiness and sheer violence. There is so much responsibility that comes with the feat. For someone so young to shoulder that responsibility and and perform is nothing short of incredible.

Rihanna Mamamoo The “whisper” that everyone talks about it’s her signature! I mean, yes, it probably sounded louder because of the microphone but it’s really hard to do what she did live and she had a lot of courage to sing in a different way she and everyone is used to...

I don’t know a thing about vocal coaching or the theory of music, I just really like and appreciate music, songwriters, singers,...

C2-C5-Bb5 Falsetto up to an E6 Whistle B5-A6. everything else is a scream or my larynx drops to the ground.
