Hey guys, Erickson and I have been friends for a few years and always enjoy talking about singing and sharing ideas with one another. We are both mutual fans of the CVT (Complete Vocal Technique) method and thought it would be a good idea to try and teach one another some of our respective skills.
I never see videos like this on the internet, and I want to help set a new precedent with what vocal coaching means and is. Being a teacher doesn't mean you know everything. It doesn't mean you aren't flawed and don't have things you can learn. A lot of times we get this impression from teachers in private vocal lessons. We think they are always right and have all the answers. The truth is that the proof is in the pudding. If a teacher can't demonstrate the sound you're looking for then there's not a good reason to suppose they'll be able to help you achieve it. Even if they CAN make the sounds, they may not be able to explain it to you in a way that gets you from point A to point B.
That being said, a teacher can help you by sharing their own experiences and using their own concepts to help you. Erickson and I use our voices in different ways and experience different results. We have different abilities. This video is about two teachers who want to learn more by learning from one another. I think ultimately this as example of how you should learn from others and be open to trying things out both as a singer and teacher.
Put those questions down below and thanks for watching!
