This is the video that earned Layne his VioLayne moniker.

@@lkayh We do indeed. Layne started his violin lessons when he was 4 and is classically trained. I think this was J None's best lead - just incredible. I was glad that he opted to join VioLayne with the violins. He worried that he hadn't played it in awhile but VioJ did right well.

Love seeing your smile when you react to Voiceplay!! They are so versatile, you can't help but to love them!! Layne doesn’t get nearly the credit he deserves. That's why I love this release! Credit goes to Layne for the violin, the arrangement and video!! And, also to J. None whose violin skills were a little rusty and he nailed it as well!! Great reaction as always!!

This video is the first of VoicePlay's post apocalyptic trio. The one following this is Aerosmith's Dream On, with Seven Nation Army rounding out the story. I was also going to mention that this video is one of only three times this a cappella group has had Layne playing the violin. Here's was born VioLayne. But it looks like someone beat me to it.

Voiceplay and Geoff frequently do music I've never heard. Doesn't matter, they are freaking awesome. Fun factt. They recorded the video in a working warehouse with heavy equipment operating the whole time. The audio was already recorded and they were performing in conjunction with it. Amazing concentration and skill to ignore what was going on around them. This lineup only existed for two years. J None joined them in 2018, Earl, the high tenor, left in 2020. Try their version of Can't Help Falling in Love or Bridge over Troubled Water from that period.

They are all good and we know that. In agreement with some of the commenters who came before. Layne is so great in almost every song even if it's just the backing/rhythm that ties it all together. (love that guy and what he does for the group)

I like the original, but honestly it’s almost bland in comparison to VoicePlay’s version. They added so much additional value with the violins and much more movement in the chord progressions. This was the video that sold me on VP all the way back in 2020 and still remains in my top favorites! It’s really one of their best 😊

This one is among the top of my VoicePlay list. The harmonies are crazy good. And you're spot-on pointing out how the vocals blending with the violin seamlessly. I've never heard the original either but am afraid it may pale now in comparison. VoicePlay has covered Image Dragons in a fairly recent song, "Enemy" and it's even more incredible than this one. Now that they're down one permanent member they can fit songs with feature artists and it fell to k-pop star AleXa to fill the hole and she was an amazing feature.

Ah-I see you haven’t seen the other two songs in this post-apocalyptic trilogy (so far-I have a feeling we’re not done with this theme). Next up is Dream On, followed by Seven Nation Army. You’re in for a big treat!

Each one of them has the unique ability to taylor their voices to the particular genre of the performance. You don’t see that often. And with the vastness of genres VP pulls off, it really shows the extensive vocal acrobatics these guys can do. Truly amazing talents.

This was the video that earned Layne the name of Violayne. He has played twice more to my knowledtge. in Nothing Else Matters and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Also it's easy to overlook the fact that J.None also played violin in this one.

This has been at the top of my favorites list since it came out. I'm not a musician and can't explain what Layne does with his violin here, but in my ears it totally became another voice in the harmony. This is the only time he's played violin that I felt that way. Wish I knew what's different musically! Anyway, it's a stunning performance from all of them. And while their final positioning looks static at a glance - as usual, it perfectly fills the proportions and positioning for classical paintings. We get both ear AND eye candy.
