No discredit or disrespect to John and George, but Paul was on another level musically, what ever he touched, he put his personal stamp on elevating great songs into classics. No need to present examples of this because we all know the significance of his contributions. He much more than any of the others, tried his best to keep the Beatles as a unit, and what a loss to the world when the break up was announced. We're unlikely ever to experience a musical phenomenon of this magnitude again. Listen to the volumes of rubbish polluting the media, no idea about good musical structure or artistry. Enough said.

It's about Jane Asher, in my opinion. Several friends mentioned how "heartbroken" Paul was when she left him. He first penned this song in late 1968, and in December of that year, Paul told a journalist that he and Jane "were still in love with one another, but it's impossible." Jane had made up her mind - she was not coming back. Other songs I think are about the situation are Hey Jude, Honey Pie, Martha My Dear, Let it Be, The Long and Winding Road, and part of I've Got A Feeling (I'd hate to miss the train/And if you leave me/I won't be late again...One evening in 1963, Paul missed the last train home to Liverpool, and Mrs. Asher suggested he stay the night at their house. One night became two-and-a-half-years. It was the catalyst in turning their innocent romance into a relationship). "Jane Asher was the first woman to reject him, and he did not like the experience", said Alistair Taylor, who goes into great detail about the breakup in his book. Also, note the ad-lib Can You Take Me Back? Paul sings between takes of I Will. He wrote I Will soon after their engagement, and when he got round to recording it after she left him, the two avaliable outtakes are both notably negative for a positive love song. Jane Asher, the one who got away...

@@lauracampagne-gregorits2648 I saw a video of Paul doing Helter Skelter at a recent concert. He was painfully struggling with it and couldn't quite get to the super high notes. He'll always be able to draw a sellout crowd, but maybe it's time to skip those kinds of songs. He got thunderous applause from the audience, but I'd have to believe that was because he's Paul McCartney, one of The Beatles, and that he made an effort to try. Maybe he was under the weather with a sore throat. It can happen to anyone. He's definitely not so young anymore.

@@lawrence142002 The last time I saw him was late 2017. He did his 3 hour set, which I think is ballsy for a man approaching 80 years old! Some songs were sung in a different key, or with more harmonies/background vocals. The higher notes weren't as high as they were back in the day, same as the gritty, low notes. Every time I see Macca I cry the first 20 minutes or so; it's so emotional for me. My daughter met Paul twice, as she worked for the NHL team in our city and worked all the other events at the venue. Last time, Paul walked over to her and asked her what her name was, and shook her hand, telling her it was nice to meet her. Because she worked there for 8+ years, she was able to get my son and I seats in the front row of the employee box. We were so close we could be every bead of sweat on the bands' faces! But anyway, who among us will be as good in our late 70's as we were at age 22? Nobody. Age takes its toll on all of us, even our beloved Sir Paul James McCartney.💖🎶🎸🎤🎹

I watched the McCartney film Give My Regards to Broad Street last night. There was one song that he was playing with Dave Edmunds on guitar where he sang the first two lines with a woman's voice. I'm not talking about a jokey, comical voice or Barry Gibb-type voice. This was a serious song and he sang it spot on. Really Really impressive. Well worth a watch.

Mccartney was the best as a singer in the beatles. But his image as a cute one underplayed his ability.

Honestly I always thought he was the most talented Beatle, and given John's abilities that's saying a lot.

The main lead singer when the Beatles broke huge was John and there was a reason for that. Paul you could say was an equal and a specialist in vocal harmonies. I still think John had a superior lead voice as his tone and style was more unique and he had an other worldly quality to his voice that is once in a lifetime and a Beatles signature along with Paul’s voice and harmonies. George was a great singer as well. Ringo could sing for a drummer.

How incredible and exciting it must have been working in those control rooms at Emi watching The Beatles work. Watching the interaction between Paul and John. Just wish I could have been there.
