@@levelupwithmikenewman what numbers are you hitting when camera is as low as possible? I can’t seem to get close to the sweet spot of -12 to -18 around half way on camera unless I crank up the gain on Vocaster resulting on n clipping or increasing the camera volume to 12-15 on the zve10. There isn’t a button on the interface itself, or in the Hub software. When I need quality noise suppression I use the Noise suppression filter in OBS. It does an amazing job

That’s a Bummer! Must be a shotgun thing. The Earthworks Ethos I’m using is a condenser mic, and it handled it beautifully! You got me curious..How is your setup? Is your room treated?! Do you like to use it like a dynamic or is it boomed out of your shot? Just like to hear what situations, gear combinations create high. Noise floors in any mic for future Q&A’s that may come up about combining those two together. 👍🏻 thanks for the info. 😁

Have you had an issue where the audio soft clips at -3 DB? Try clapping loudly or tapping the mic. It softclips at -3 DB. We've had about 5 people who have had this issue with the Vocaster.

I haven’t, but I generally go a touch lower in my gain to where my max (clapping) peaks at -5db on all my interfaces and boost in post if ever there is a need, to steer clear of any possible clipping.

@@levelupwithmikenewman We found out how to fix it. So apparently the wrong setting is Videocall L+R. You have to use the Host mode. But it normally doesn't show up in Audacity so you have to rightclick on the bottom tray and it'll show Expose/Hide Windows Channels. After you do that you choose Host and now it works properly.

I'm debating between this, the el gato wave xlr (for the software), or the Scarlet 2i2 3rd or 4th gen. I just bought an SM7B, do you have any suggestions brother? Can I just get away with an MVX2u? Too many options, I'm confused!
@levelupwithmikenewman
2 ай бұрын
Those are all good options. The software is awesome for the wave. I am eyeballing it myself. Not to review, but to get and just use for myself. For the Sm7B, it is VERY awesome mic that is high maintenance, meaning it NEEDS EQ, you can’t just plug it in and use it out of the box. For that reason, I would get the Vocaster over all of the these. It will give you the easiest time dialing your SM7b for a good sound, easy to learn how to use, and you can use the Vocaster to send audio directly into your camera if you wanted to make that part of making videos easier. I have all of those, and I use the Vocaster ALL THE TIME, the others I use occasionally for a specific job. The Vocaster can all the jobs and do them so well!!

@@michaelmarcano9200 I have both, I use my Vocasters for my live stream podcasts. simple to use. easy to dial in your gain with auto gain. I use my Rodecaster Duo for everything else including video reviews because you can do so much more. Honestly I would use the Vocaster. The Vocaster Hub is a great app that allows to process your sound to your likeing before you ever get to the editing floor. Eliminates a step in your workflow, and gives you an easier way to control your audio by seeing more visually. Also allows you to connect the interface directly to your camera. This allows you to send your audio straight to the camera and have both your audio and video together without having to worry about computer issues compromising video/audio performance, and be able to record taking head shots wherever you want, inside your studio or on location somewhere else for unique videos! 👍🏻

That is a real bummer no doubt for some. My Rodecaster Duo is my go to for direct recording, but for my workflow, I always record in OBS for the awesome noise suppression filter it has, and record directly into my camera as well via the 3.5mm camera output. I still wish it had a micro SD card slot for direct recording. That would definitely put this it in the elite Tier for me. Still my personal favorite for live-streaming because it does offer two ways to record audio in case one fails! Using that camera output to run a cable to your camera (or your smart phone with the right adapter cable!) thanks for bringing that up. It is definitely something to take into account! for many - $99 is a HUGE investment if it doesn’t suit a specific need of a creator. 😁
