Unfortunately I did listen to this series at 19 and got my boyfriend to also listen to it. I thought he was on the same page because he listened to this and agreed with it … I was so so wrong. I was so blind to who he actually was and it was not this man described. He agreed with it but didn’t live it nor want to be this man. But because of this series I got married after just 10 months of dating thinking that was the right Christian thing to do. It was not. I wish I hadn’t have listened to this series. & Please don’t rush into marriage. Be patient and prayerful.

Excellent Biblical Principles on Marriage. We are deeply grateful for Mr. Baucham, honesty and practical simplicity in presenting the most important institution in society. A covenant marriage that is, 'until death do you part' is meant to be a blessing for the family, church, and society. Moreover, the LORD Jesus Christ first miracle was at a marriage feast giving His blessing on Marriage--for He is one who created this institution for the happiness of mankind and a place for children to learn about God. ( Genesis 2:18, Genesis 38:8 , John 2:1, 1 Cor,7:38, Heb.13:4 , Ephesians 6:1-4 )

That gave me a whole different perspective of marriage and one I am not about to play with for one measley second. Seen too many divorces in my own family except one and when they came to their senses they won. Marriage is a serious thing, if you are not ready, leave it alone. Another video that is timely. I have only listened six minutes into this video so far, but insecurity is creeping up in my heart. My husband and I were born again believers when we were sexually intimate before marriage. We knew it was wrong and we have repented for it. But hearing Voddie say he knows couples who should never have been married makes me feel insecure in my marriage all over again. What if we should not have been married? Do I now live with my spouse knowing who he should have been married to? Even though we are thriving right now and I am seriously growing in my walk with Christ? Someone please alleviate my fears with the Word. Should I never have married this man? Why then did God allow us to get married? We got married fast on purpose so we would not keep living in sin. 😥 Thank you. And now we are honoring the Lord. Ugh I hate feeling this way. I want to enjoy my marriage!

When I first saw Mr Baucham teaching, I really liked him and thought he was the real deal. I watched his sermons about not adapting to culture and the sissified Jesus, I thought he was spot on. However, having watched this sermon I have sadly changed my mind about him. If anyone is interested, here are a few criticisms I have of this sermon: • He constantly talks about "our culture" and "this culture". But what do the saints have to do with the culture of the world? What relevance is "culture" to people who have been made holy? • This sermon clearly seems to be addressed at fleshly people: those who marry for selfish reasons, who get angry with one another, get divorced, and carry on like the world does. What does this have to do with God's holy people? If Mr Baucham thinks he is speaking to the world, he shouldn't be teaching them how to be righteous-that is impossible-he should be preaching the Gospel that they may be _made_ righteous. On the other hand, if Mr Baucham thinks he is addressing a congregation of saints, this teaching is redundant. You _cannot_ teach children of God to be what we already are. God has made us righteous; it is what comes naturally to us now we've been born again. • He seems to think that you can train your children to be Christians. That is not so. You can't train someone to be a Christian; that is a work of God in their hearts. Proverbs 22:6 is not talking about turning your children into Christians, it's talking about raising a child well. Jesus said "A person's enemies will be those of his own household" (Matt 10:36) • He speaks of Christians wishing they'd been told this 20 years ago. Why haven't they learn it from the Scriptures by now? 20 years is more than enough time to have studied the relevant passages. Anyone who is so unfamiliar with Scripture after 20 years is most likely to be a false convert. • He refers to men he knows who speak badly of marriage. What do such men have to do with the congregation of God? Nothing. • He mentions statistics about people getting divorced. What does that have to do with the church of God. What does divorce have to do with the holy saints? Nothing. • He blurs the line between the saints and the world. He speaks of the sinful ways of his sister in Law, yet seems to regard her as though she were a member of the church. Which is it? You can't be in sin _and_ a member of the church. • I adore Voddie's sense of humor; he is a very funny man. Sadly though this sermon feels much more like entertainment than teaching. The audience's reaction seems to reflects this, with applause every few moments. Church teaching is _serious_; it's not entertainment. Then when he's not making people laugh, he seems to go into a kind of dramatic way of talking where he hushes his voice and becomes ultra-serious, with big gestures. I'm sorry but personally I just don't see any of it as sincere. It feels false; more like a performance; like he's trying to put on a show to please the crowd rather than teaching in the Holy Spirit. He even admits at one point that his wife sees his faults which the public don't see-suggesting there is a "private" Voddy Baucham we don't see. Insincerity is not the nature of the Holy Spirit. We who are in Christ are _always_ fully ourselves. • He refers to David as "the most Godly man in the Bible" (hardly!). Then he says that he is _not_ more Godly than David. That is concerning! Matthew 11:11 says that every man in the Kingdom is greater than every man in the Old Testament. • He spends a lot of time explaining that marriage is good. How could any Christian ever come to the conclusion that marriage was bad? The Scriptural view of marriage is abundantly clear. • He speaks about wanting to leave his brothers in Christ to be with his wife and not wanting to be with them any more. He says that he has "found something a whole lot better" than the church. That is not a Biblical attitude! Yes a man leaves his parents to be with his wife, but this refers to where he lives; not to his spiritual family. When a man joins with his wife, the two become one; but they are no less a part of the body of Christ. • He keeps saying "Amen?" as a question. He is trivializing a most profound word. "Amen" is an expression of personal faith; a categorical statement of absolute conviction. • He says he has "degrees" and "training" for ministry. That is very concerning. You can't be "trained" to have a spiritual gift; it is given by God. Moreover, Bible colleges and seminaries are well known to be godless, heretical places. A man of God wouldn't want to go anywhere near such a place. • He holds to the view that God made female animals before He made Eve. That view is not supported by scripture. Are we to believe that God had given every animal a mate but deliberately held back on giving Adam one until Adam found none of the animals to be suitable? No. We all know what Genesis 2 says. Chapter 21 begins with the word "so". God made Eve _because_ Adam didn't find any of the animals suitable. It is clear from the description that Eve was something unprecedented and radical: a new category of creature specially created for man. Surely all the animals were given mates because of Eve; not the other way round. • He says the primary reason for marriage is procreation. Where is that in the Bible? The primary reason for marriage is all about the relationship between the man and his wife and their coming together. Children are merely a bonus. God didn't give Eve as a "helper with procreation"; that is absurd. • He admits to having asked God earlier in life for evil things: worldly things of pride: recognition, appreciation, and having people remember him when he's dead. He doesn't seem to even be aware of how disgusting those attitudes are to God and shrugs it off as "immaturity". The fact that he could desire such things _whilst_ being a Christian suggests that he is not born again. I am sorry for being negative about this man, especially since I like him so much. But everything about this sermon is _very wrong_. This is not adding up to a man of God. I also found out that he respects John MacArthur-and John MacArthur is most certainly _not_ a man of God. It is sad. I hope that the Lord will bring Mr Baucham to true repentance because I suspect it has never happened and he is just another "church going" type.

Lee Bee Lee, Why don't you contact Mr. Baucham and talk to him about these issues. I think perhaps it may be violating what the Scriptures teach in dealing with and talking about a confessing brother in Christ. There are some pretty heavy accusations in your critique here. Perhaps a dialogue with him would clarify some concerns you have. Iron sharpens iron. James
@Scripture-Man
9 жыл бұрын
James Dyer Thanks for the suggestion James! :) I often do contact teachers directly, especially those whom I feel have a sincere faith but are led astray in some of their views. I am not sure about Mr Baucham, but perhaps as you say it would be worth trying to contact him. (No idea how, but that's another story!) But there is still a requirement for the body of Christ to warn one another concerning _possible_ false teachers. I would rather advise caution of 100 genuine saints than risk remaining silent about one wolf in the flock. We know that there are indeed many false teachers out there, and we all practice personal discernment of course: trusting some whilst distrusting others. But in the Body, the Lord has given each of us gifts and some are better able to discern spirits than others. I am not making any claims about my own ability to discern, but when I have concerns, I can speak as I see things. What kind of a member neglects to use the gifts God has given him? I want to add that I do not like to be rude about people, and what I wrote about Mr Baucham above was quite blunt-for the sake of the church. I am not trying to be rude of course, I just care about the Body of Christ and keeping it holy. There seems to be a modern satanic movement in the church which says that men should put tact and diplomacy before truth; that men of God should feminize themselves and avoid confrontation at all costs, and so we have churches full of weak, quiet men who do not speak out in faith. Well, one of the things I like about Mr Baucham is that he opposes this view. He is a real man, and I admire him for that at least. :) I am sure he would hate for a brother to withhold his criticisms-I certainly would! I want people to be straight with me. My salvation is too important to pussyfoot around important issues.

Bro, hes talking to Christians who live in this ungodly culture. He is helping shepherd Gods people away from the lies of the evil one. Just because we are Christians doesn't mean we are unable to choose wrong, even knowing what is right through our conscious and still disobeying God. What about believers who are married to unbelievers and come from a family of unbelievers and an unbelieving culture who says all kinds wrong things regarding marriage. Leave my brother alone, your rebuking the fact that he addresses the culture and its lies? You may be in a place in your walk where you are hypersensitive to any and all mention of culture. Be careful, some folks are not yet quite matured yet in their walk with God. Does not mean they are not saved. Be careful you dont cause babes in Christ to stumble. Jesus warns against that.

+Lee Bee you sound like a false prophet to me, maybe it is because that you are one. You pretend to throw some scriptures into your point of view and acts as if they are strictly from the bible. How dare you put down this man of God for preaching to a lost crowd? I am glad that you find what he said to be offensive or to disagree with him. Because if you think contrary to what Pastor Baucham just shared, that is because he is talking to you and Im glad that you listened. And maybe if you listen to this message twice and carefully , it will change your heart too, cause you need that. By the way, stop commenting on his videos and leading other people astray. I've seen your comments on multiple of his videos, and they have only one vision; not to build but to destroy the work of God he's been given to spread to those in need. You my friend need some help and some spiritual healing. It's not about what you think buddy. Oh, yes, did you know that preaching the gospel is not a gift that everyone received and you surely don't seem to be one of the people who received the gift to preach. Learn the gospel first, stop being so critical and listen for once to his sermon and let God speak to your soul before you put up comments about what "you" think should have been said, because its not about pleasing you.

I think the main problem is that the American society is not serious enough about the meaning of marriage, its importance. Its a society of consumption. This "didn't work out for me" so next. They don't know how to forgive and love enough to work things through. So they keep on going through people hoping that someone will fulfill them. No one can fulfill u fully, only God can. They are selfish so they don't want to love and forgive fully to stay and to nurture something that may need healing and lots of love.

Like others I am not interested in finding fault in Pastor Voddie Baucham's message. No man of God is perfect. None of the Apostles were and neither was Saul of Tarsus later known as Paul the Apostle. If they were perfect we could be worshipping them. But I take immense pleasure if a person is exposing the Word of God in sincerety and truth and the Holy Spirit is speaking to us through their words. I am blessed by this series. And I listen to generally Pastor Voddie , John Piper, Paul Washer and few others. I first heard Pastor Voddie's message Soverignity of God in post modern world. It shattered me where it needs shattering. After that I knew I can safely listen to him. And if I do not agree with him there, I have no right to judge him but form an opinion to a message or teaching all the time analsying my formed opinion through the funnel of Gods truth. Whilst remaining humble and obedient. In time God will bring change wherever it is needed. Peace out. Just listen without finding faults. God bless guys ! :D

The hardest thing about “dating” in this culture, even within Christian circles, is the lack of commitment on the man’s part to a woman. Until there is a man who will LEAVE everything to be with me, I’ll stay happily single. I have a great desire for marriage, but I’m waiting on the Lord to bring a man who is READY to marry me. Amen & amen! Great message!!

He's speaking to a group of Christians and therefore, not required to "prove" God exists. The people listening have most likely put their faith in Christ and came to hear his message on marriage, not a discourse of a historical nature on whether or not God exists. That's not the purpose of this SERMON. I think you're looking for another video. By your reasoning, every pastor in America would spend their time every Sunday having to "prove" God every time they opened their mouths.

i would like to know what parts of his speech were completely made up and wildly inaccurate, i assure you that they are very accurate, and in response to your reading the bible. i am sorry to say but the fact that you dont believe in god is because of your own inability to believe anything that "science" has not proven or that you have not seen with your own eyes. i am sorry that you do not see the proof in the bible, and that you choose not to believe it. nothing i say will change your beliefs.

Fair enough. However, your response, tone and beliefs BEG the question - why are you here? Why are you viewing this video if you don't believe in God/any "god" etc? Why are you watching a Christian Preacher speak about marriage from a biblical perspective? No need to apologize either. I have no problem engaging in discussion with you. Obviously, we are at wildly differing places with respect to this conversation but that's okay :)

This was one of the best ever videos I have ever heard on marriage I could really heart his heart talking on this matter, their are times in this message I wanted to cry, bc I have been in mine for over 30 yrs and have been so unhappy I pray and pray hoping for change. I do respect him as the head but he don't respect me as his wife, I believe in honoring my vows, and I truly pray for my husband everyday. Thank you Jesus for this man of God for speaking this encouraging word. Bless you pastor 🙏

Marriage has taught me so much it's been almost 2 years. You realize that the enemy isn't your suppose but your flesh. It causes you to examine yourself daily am I following God? Should I have spoken to him that way? Best advice is to be guard the enemy is after your marriage. Keep reading the word daily and be in prayer.

I love his sermons. I may not agree with opinionated parts of them, but in the basic core of his sermons.. They are educational and Ilan inspiration for seeking a closer relationship with God and a deeper understanding of his word. We are all blessed to have a man that teaches as Voddie does.

Just love how this man speaks the unbending Word of God. John McArthur and RC Sproul have actually been mentors to him in a way. There might be a thing or two that they don’t necessarily teach right or maybe do not have the full meaning of but I haven’t really found any yet. They are human beings and fallible but their solid theological teaching comes from rightly dividing the truth

@salamace7 Contd. if we had proof, we wouldn't need faith. Just as people have faith that they will wake up next morning when they go asleep, we should have faith in God. It's your decision to believe or not, and no one should force you to. Just know the consequences if you do not believe and you are proven wrong. If there is no God I will have lived my life feeling loved and protected. If there is, I will still be accepted into His arms as His faithful servant.

Can I get a divorce if my spouse commits adultery? Never! Can I get a divorce if my spouse is abusive to me? No! Can I get a divorce if I no longer love my spouse? Absolutely not! Can I get a divorce if my spouse has abandoned me? No, you can't! So, under what circumstances can I get a divorce? Absolutely none. The Bible is absolutely clear: only death can dissolve a marriage in God's sight. Our only option is to separate from our spouse and stay single. If things get better between our spouse and us, we can get back together (1 Corinthians 7:10-11, Bible). But what about the exception in Matthew 5:31-32 and Matthew 19:1-9? There is no exception in Matthew's gospel: Once you are married, you are married for life. Once married, always married until death do us part, with no exceptions. This applies to all human beings, regardless of whether you are a sinner or a saint.
