Hello everyone!
I've been playing a lot of Animenz's 2022 arrangements since they're just so good!! Every single one of them has been a banger and I can't stop listening to them (doesn't mean his previous arrangements weren't bangers either of course).
Anyways, here's my cover of Vogel im Kafig! To be honest, I sort of lost interest in this piece about 2 months ago when I was on the final 2 pages since I just couldn't memorise the first 4 pages and the piece just wasn't clicking with me. However, I decided to stick it through since the ending is just too epic and I couldn't just quit just as I got my foot in the door. This recording was extra hard to do since you can very easily mess up on the last page and have to record it all over again T.T The beginning gets old really quickly when you have to do this 10+ times.
Initially, I was planning on recording this arrangement together with Sakayume so I could make use of the U87's but I couldn't get it ready in time so KM184's it is haha. I tried a new camera angle for the ending so you could see the left hand better - not sure if I really like it so maybe I'll just stick with the old style. It feels a bit disorientating but reminds me of Theishter's videos
About this arrangement:
The first 4 pages of this arrangement look deceptively easy since the arpeggios are intuitive and it's mostly slow moving but managing the dynamics was extremely hard since you're trying to build up to the final climax with every note you play. I could've definitely managed that a lot better since some areas are a bit uneven with the dynamics but I couldn't be bothered anymore after about an hour and a half. I still wonder how I managed to set up my mics and camera, and complete a full recording of an Animenz arrangement within an hour when I used to play on the Steinway...
There's not much to say about the ending except that it's so epic and was the main reason I decided to learn this arrangement. The arpeggios needed to be really clear and articulate in both hands in order to convey the "epicness" of this piece - otherwise, it'll sound quite disjointed. Btw, if your piano isn't shaking while playing the end then sadly, it's not loud enough ¬‿¬ but just like Animenz, I was scared of hurting the piano so I kind of held back haha
That's it for this week, next video will either be some OST from Horimiya or Kigeki - whichever one comes first =)
See you next time!
P.S. I really love the bass at 6:34 - Fazioli basses are amazing!!
