I'm not a musician, so I don't know how to articulate the technicalities of what how much is made but I can def sense when an artist is different. Genius musicians that know how to blend old school and new school. Gotta appreciate art. Thanks for the reaction!

That last one is mad raunchy, but I can’t help but laugh every time I hear that line, ‘she can cook grits & roll a spliff at the same time.’ 😂😂😂. I’m mainly a jazz player that has done other work. Glad you listened to APaak. His personal work is more raw & organic, so it’s interesting to see what a chameleon he is to fit into various styles as he does in Silk Sonic. You’re experience comes across in your perception, especially of Anderson & his place in S.S. Thanks for mentioning solos! 🤗 By now you’ve heard the full Evening With Silk Sonic album. One thing I realized is that Bruno only starts 2 songs out of the nine. Andy starts all the rest. That helps to highlight his importance in this collaboration. He also spoke of how Bruno pushed him in the studio, I think vocally, & he definitely comes across as a legit singer. Part is how his musicality plays into his interpretation as a lead singer. They’re also both such great team players, which reflects the love & respect for the music as a whole. Everybody does their part for the good of the whole. Very cool viewing your reactions. 👍

I’ve known about Andy since Malibu years ago, but I was only a casual listener. I’d watched his interviews around when he was doing Oxnard. Then again two years ago around Trolls World Tour lol. I just remember him here & there, had a couple of his singles in my library. But then after Silk Sonic dropped? I mean lol I watch his performances so much now haha also Paak House last month was soooooo damn good. Andrew and the Free Nationals and friends killed it. It’s not just his talent or skill, but his energy and charisma. Magnetic.

She's right. He's playing drums, singing (and rapping) and that's hard to do well. Also, this is jazz. Unfortunately, this country seems to have turned its back on this type of musicianship. Other parts of the world resoect it more these days.

That big, beautiful smile you have when you hear what you are trained to hear shows that you really enjoy this performance. I, just like you watched a show called Survivors Remorse heard a verse of "Put me Thru", stayed up 2hours to re-watch the episode so I could find out who did the song. I been a fan ever since. That was about 5 yrs ago

You have just smacked the bullseye dead center with Mr. Paak. Happy New Year and thank you for another super reaction. Keeping time with a rapid pace rap beat, singing with that jazzy voice and smiling that light up the room smile makes him a serious contender for entertainer of the year.

While I agree with everything you’ve said about how important the band’s training and years playing together are, I also believe lots of what we’re witnessing can NOT be “taught,” especially formally. All the schooling, theory, and even apprenticeship with much better musicians can not provide someone with an internally calibrated feel/sense of soul or groove, or a certain level of rhythmic knowledge. Much of this, while I’m sure honed over time, is giftedness, which only God can give, and life experiences particular to that musician.
