Cesar is great at whistle notes. You will hear him in Hell Fire playing the air guitar & in one of the Voice Play songs they did live while playing with the band Chicago. Cesar is my favorite of the group.

Can we just talk about range? J is singing bass with the Navy and here he is nailing those high notes, and Cesar is all over the keyboard-are those whistle notes??? And then we get Layne singing and vio-layning, and Geoff laying down those lion growls while dad-dancing, and Eli crushing it as always. This is wonderful!

I love this. I have a special playlist for songs that feature both J None and Cesar, I love their voices together so much! You know, I was listening to their Halo cover today, and it occurred to me that when they took Ceaser into the fold, they really opened a new range for the group. So good!

Totally agree! Both J and Cesar sound great with Eli, Layne and Geoff, too, but there’s something about the two of them together.

So much fun. This is in The Lion King, but it is not from The Lion King, it came out in the late 60s or early 70s. Glad that you're feeling better, and hope you make a full recovery soon.

The song is a lot older than The Lion King. I remember it from way back. This one has so much going on. It's hilarious. I've seen Geoff doing some goofy dances but this one beats them all. LOL

I found this history...."The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a song originally written and recorded by Solomon Linda under the title "Mbube" for the South African Gallo Record Company in 1939. It's a lot older than I thought!

Great reaction. They did this on one of their albums years ago, so glad they decided to revisit this song. The Tokens did a version of this in 1961 ( original song from 1930s Africa there's a story for you). Dad dancing and shenanigans with amazing vocals... you could just listen without the visuals but why would you want to? and you are right Voiceplay is Everything!

No, that wasn't Cesar doing that super high note in the background, that was the hippo, didn't you see? 😉 I got such a kick out of this, and every time I watch it I see something new, or something is pointed out -- I hadn't noticed Eli doing the water drops or whatever they're called until you mentioned it. By the way, speaking of dances, did you catch J doing the Carlton at one point? They were having so much fun with this -- it's a joy to watch and laugh along with them! Layne gets a chance to sing, then Geoff taps him on the shoulder and pushes him out of the way for his own little solo. J and Eli going up and down in the background during Cesar's solo. Cesar falling asleep on J's shoulder right at the end. And Cesar's whistle notes -- oh my goodness!!! Didn't know a guy could sing that high!! By the way, the patreon lists scrolling or not -- the top tier patrons are listed first on a static screen, next tier (or two?) scrolls up, the rest of us get to see the behind the scenes video as a thank you. :)

This song has a very interesting history. It was first written and recorded in 1939, in Zulu under the title Mbube. Of course it's gone through some title and language changes since then. I first heard it in English, sung by The Tokens in 1961 or very soon after that. I can't remember ever NOT knowing this song and loving it. He hasn't done a video for it yet but Tim Foust sings it on his doo-wop album Pieces of Me Vol. 1.
