Very useful, quality content! The Lens Rentals Blog is extraordinary. As for other VM lenses, I've also been looking at the new 21mm and newish 40mm and those wides work well across FF/APSC/M43/N1/Q A comparison between the 35mm II and III might be interesting, as the new one is much lighter so it would be interesting to see if it retains the same qualities or goes in a new direction. Thanks!

Fellow Citizen Phillip Reeves blog talks in depth about that lens as well. Pretty much smaller and lighter. Pretty similar quality. I’m curious if the aberrations and vignetting would be less intense and if the center of the image is a little sharper wide open. Thanks for commenting and watching.

I have the 21 f1.4 in M mount, use it on the S1, and I LOVE that lens. It might be my favorite Voigtlander I have (all Noktons... 21mm f1.4, 35mm f1.2 II, 75mm f1.5)

@@nickharris5231 Which can you recommend? I want to start with 2 lenses. Which to avoid? I think they might be the perfect fit because you can adapt to almost every mirrorless and they have a character. Was looking at Sigma lenses etc and real Cine lenses and Voigtländer might be the perfect hybrid. Do you still have other lenses?

Great video. After watching it about 15 times i picked up the 75mm 1.5 and an older version 1 35mm 1.2 to use for narrative stuff. Love the 35. I did find the 75 a touch too sharp for my taste but traded it for a 75 1.8 which was a better fit for me. Thanks a lot for the great info

there is no way to compete with perfection and sharpness of sigma glass. if that is what ur looking for for some people that is boring and without character! then. go for old, vintage lenses like takumars, helios, voigtlanders and leica. it deppends of what ur looking for! great review man!

Neat looking lenses. Not sure there's a huge enough difference in the look for me to justify adding them to my collection or renting them since I've got the Sigmas and they are nice clean lenses that are great for most of what I do. But I do love the look even though it's very subtle in how it's different from the Sigmas. It renders skin tones very nice.

I love my Voigtlander lenses. I actually have the 35 and 75 you used in this vid. Waiting on a few more jobs to come through before I get the 50. One thing you didnt talk about which is a big deal for video work is focus breathing. The 75 has it pretty bad, but Im wondering about the 50 on that regard.
@Whiteinrevery

I did that test but had trouble finding a way to include it into this review that was already getting pretty long. overall, the 75 has the most intense focus breathing. It is much less noticeable on the 50 and 35. 35 has the least, then 50, then 75 which is the worst. Hope that helps.

Hi, I use gh5 + voigtlander lenses And I'm thinking about diffusion filters for that filmic look. But.... I have heard that Voigtlander already has some nice diffusion inherent to it. And that may be preferable for the gh5 because of inverse sensor reflections at night. What do you think, is it really needed these diffusion filters for such lenses? And do you use them?

Just a sugestion . When I read "vintage Voigtlander lens " I expect a old German lens , not a new lens built by Cosina that has a vintage look . I am a fan of the Cosina/Voigtlander lenses too. I sugest you just call then Voigtlander lenses.

Hi there, sorry I haven't updated the description. That LUT is no longer available as it has gone through multiple reiterations and constant updates. Honestly, this LUT in this video is not as consistent and reliable as the new updated one is as I have had multiple years tweaking and working with tons of other footage. Because of the constant updates, it has been moved out of Beta to a purchased product. Sorry for the miscommunication on my description.

I tried the 75mm 1.5 which is an absolutely lovely lens with a unique buttery smooth look, but i fount the focusing to be a pain in the rear on more than portrait distances due to the very short throw it has beyond 3 meters or so. shame they dont do this lens in a cine housing with longer focus throw. would buy it in an instant.

As someone who has used the Voigtlander Noktons for seven or eight years, I can tell you that they provide a reliable way to get classic rendering in modern, high quality lenses. Focus rings are super smooth and permit high precision focus pulls. They are all a bit glowy at f0.95, but clean up by f1.2. The 25 and 42.5 allow very close focus, giving you dreamy close ups of bridal make up, rings and jewelry, etc. They all have 58mm filter threads except the 25, which is easily solved with a step up ring. The MFT Noktons are a secret weapon for getting an uncommon and yet classic look. Everything looks so organic.

@raksh9

@@NolanGunn You're welcome. Watch some videos made with them and you'll see a characteristic look that they have. I think they are very suited to weddings as they produce a very gentle organic look without sacrificing sharpness. Everything about the image says vintage glass, but without vintage glass pitfalls like fungus, excessive veiling flare, stiff focus rings etc. They have longer focus throws as you get to closer focus, so achieving precision for ring shots or hair/makeup is easy.
