neither is really hard to play, but it depends on which you start with. If you start with clarinet it's really easy to learn the saxophone after. On the other hand of you play sax first then attempt clarinet it will be quite difficult to learn due to the saxophone having buttons and not holes like the clarinet

Clarinet is a great starter instrument to decide if woodwinds are for you, from there you can take off to other instruments like oboe and sax

Probably the first instrument you would want to do is maybe saxaphone because its quite easier than clarinet, im a person that plays both saxophone and clarinet so i would recommend using the saxophone first and if you dont like you can try clarinet but then again there is a wide variety of instruments that you can possibly play.

@@schylergeangan2342 i think clarinet would be better to start on, because it's harder, so sax is r e a l l y easy to pick up. but idk, i'm just a middle schooler

Oh come on SHIT down As a clarinet, I would say saxophone, as clarinet is rather easy, until you reach register key notes, or "over the break" notes. THEN EVERYTHING. BECOMES. HELL.

oh ma hearteuu They both can be equally hard to play they both have advantages and disadvantages
@peridotcrystalgem6835

I play both (clarinet 5 years and sax 2) and I can safely say that they’re about equally challenging/easy (depending on how you see it and if you’re talking concert band, jazz band, or marching band) depending on the type of saxaphone it can require more breath support and is heavier than the clarinet and often the hornsnap (in marching band) takes a little bit to get used to, but the clarinet has permanently push a part if the bone in my thumb down from using only my thumb to support it (I recommend buying a clarinet neck strap, I shpuld have) the keys on a clarinet bend easily as well (I have a jupiter clarinet that was expensive as hell and it gets airleaks and the keys break frequently) so for marching band I’d say clarinet is easiest, jazz I’d say saxaphone for the mere fact that they are better at trilling (for me anyways, it varies by person) and often get the lead parts, and for concert they are pretty much equal

oh ma hearteuu clarinet 100%, as a person that plays both. the clarinet is very fun, but the tenor sax is easier.

Clarinet is pretty fun till you reach the higher registr that will prob make yoi want to quit cause depending on who you are it might take you months or a couple of years to master although I have never heard anyone master the higher registr in a couple of months

You barely see their hands moving. That is a bad habit I learned, to keep my fingers all the way above the keys when not playing them. If you can't tell, I play clarinet. I someday want be this good.
