Nowhere. Hes been playing like that ALL the time, however since you most likely say that due listening from youtube, the mix/sound in youtube vids had been really BAD 2004-2013, so you cant really hear hes bass drum from the mix. Then people make the assumption hes not doing double bass drum parts, which is kinda stupid. You can hear it in livemetallica recordings though, because they are soundboard audio. All the best!

The ride cymbal he used on St Anger was a 22" Zildjian K Custom Dark Ride - on some songs he used the 12" ZXT Transformer Cymbal "stacked" on it to give it a trashier sound. @jean-pierrebernatchez1100

He uses a K Custom Ride that can also be a Crash / Ride. It sounds Warm & Low just like its Oriental China Trash which is also Warm, Low. Sounds good. The video is stereo as is the mix of the Lars drum kit too. With a good pair of headphones, the sound is excellent. His China is back although he does not use it. He also installed just his Tom 12 '' and a single Floor 16 ''. The rest, Crashes, Hi-Hat stays the same. Lars live drum kits have always had great sound, even better for those used in the studio. That of HTSD was great. 24 "Bass Drum as always in the studio with a Hi-Hat Sabian HH Medium or Rock 15 '' 90s (probably the same model used for the Black Album), K's Thin 17, 18 & 19 '' as Crashes primary, a Custom 19 '' Medium for Riding / Crash mode, a 17 '' Medium-Thin A Brilliant for a Bright Crash and its 2 Oriental China Trash 18 & 20''. The rest is the same. Toms SC 10x8'' & 12x10'', Floors 16x14'' & 16x16'' except for an 18x16'' used for one of the songs and for the first time, he used his Steel Snare Signature 14x6.5'' (LU1465) instead of the usual Bell Brass. This is his 2nd best drum kit sound (depending on the point of view of each because it is more modern) after the Black Album. In 90 for the BA, he had a Grestch USA Custom Maple 8 pieces including 2 Bass Drum 24x16 '' (used on all the following albums), 4 Toms 12x9 '', 13x11 '', 14x13 '' & 16x16 '', Floor 18x16 ''. Tama King-Pro 3mm Bell Brass 14x6.5 '' Snare, Hi-Hat Sabian AA or HH Rock (Heavy Top & Bottom) 15 '', 6 Crashes of 17, 18 & 19 '' A's Medium & Medium-Thin, one A's 20 '' China Boy Hi from the front and a K's 20 '' China back in addition to the about forty of microphones used to miker this drum kit. From 2 to 3 microphones per Shells plus overhead.. For years, he has been considered a reference in the drum kit sound. Even a software has been created for electronics drums or as a plug-in.
