For 2025, Volkswagen is making certain changes to the most recent Jetta sedan generation. The six-speed manual transmission will no longer be available on the base model Jetta, which is good news for consumers who want to purchase an automatic transmission-equipped vehicle as the price has dropped.
The Jetta GLI will continue to be the recommended option if you want to stay with what's standard. For 2025, both Jetta models will get updated external and interior styling along with some new technology.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged I4 engine in the base model Jetta now generates 158 horsepower only when paired with an eight-speed automated transmission. Upgrading to the Jetta GLI will give you access to the EA888 2.0-liter I4 turbocharged engine, which is mated to a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission and produces 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Power is, of course, transferred to the paved road through the front wheels in both scenarios.
Volkswagen Jetta models receive updated front and back design for 2025. LED headlights, a revised upper and lower grille design, and an optional accent light bar are all part of the updated front fascia. There's a new trunk lid and a standard light bar that connects the taillights on the back. New 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted on Jetta SE variants; however, SEL and GLI vehicles will be able to choose 18-inch alloy wheels.
Standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen media system that floats in the middle of the dash. Added to the list of standard equipment is a Climatronic Touch climate control system that may be operated by touch. Volkswagen also equipped the more economical SE model with SEL-specific options including voice control, satellite radio, and wireless phone charging.
The IQ Drive technology joins the Jetta's more economical rungs as well. All '25 Jetta owners now have access to these driver assistance systems as standard equipment, which include active blind spot monitoring, automated emergency braking, front collision aid, and semi-automatic driving. At the moment, adding IQ Drive to your Jetta requires using a Jetta SE.
According to Volkswagen, dealers should start receiving the '25 Jetta in the third quarter of 2024. The regular Jetta automatic is now less priced at $23,220, even if the base model Jetta is still more costly than the current Jetta S. Even though you only saved $240, you now get access to a lot more features. Volkswagen hasn't disclosed the GLI's price, although it's currently anticipated to remain at $29,310.
