Thanks to you, I performed the replacement with no problems but I'm missing one of the lower cover scews, what is the name of that type of screw? I am trying to find it on a VW parts site. Thank you for the informative videos!

Man don’t remember any of my vehicles requiring hex screws for the air filter, let alone 8 of them.

Thanks for the comments, it's crazy they would need 8 bolts for the airbox lid. Seems a little over the top German engineering if you ask us. Cheers!

What's your take on oiling them filter?
@BradleysGarage

Thanks for the question. You should only oil the filters that are designed for oil, i.e K&N, otherwise the factory paper filters should be left dry. Cheers!

Would you recommend the K&N high flow air filter?

Thanks for the questions David, we prefer to just run the OEM paper filters. Sometimes the oil in the K&N Filters can cause issues with the MAF sensors. Since we purchase them from FCPEuro, they have a lifetime guarantee so we will never have to buy another again. Good luck on your VW project. Cheers!

Thanks for the question, you can defiantly change it more often. We just went off the manufacturers maintenance schedule - static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/MC-10123068-9999.pdf Cheers!

Yes, they want $59 for the air filter and $72 for the cabin filter. You can save a bunch of cash by doing it yourself. Cheers!

OMG...the design of both housings is HORRIBLE!! wowwwwwww...... Engine air filter is bolted in like an oil pan, I'm surprised they don't provide torque specs (or do they? hahahah) and the cabin filter needs to be destroyed before you actually mount it properly, I mean started from the flat head screws, who uses flatheads anymore in a such a great visible, comfortable location?!?!?!

Thanks for the comments Ski. 8 screws is a bit of an overkill design for sure. Why not go with the clip style like all the BMW's have. What's weird is that the Passat uses thumb screws for the cabin filter so we can assume you could swap these out, since they both use the same cabin filter. kzitem.info/news/bejne/t3eJz3iFcYCjd4Y Getting that plain tip down there while standing on your head is fun though. 😎 Thanks for hanging out, Cheers!
