I think the culture of a party is something that is ignored way too much. There's so much more to a party than just a set of policy statements. I'd much rather belong to a party that I is full of people I enjoy and get along with than one which is a perfect fit ideologically but hostile and stressful.

CORRECTIONS: First of all, huge apologies to misgendering my source Juju, who I should have referred to using they/fae. Also, it appears that pragmatism is a label Volt is officially happy with. Thanks to everyone for supplying the corrections! Believe it or not, I actually wrote and recorded the line that "Volt wants to make Europe a better place" before I discovered this is already a line used by Volt campaigners! Here are some of the sources used to make this video (although, much of the information comes from the Volt Europa website and conversations with Volt members on Discord). I have to say it all sounds very exciting and refreshing. I do feel european and I think that we need to bring forth a kind of cultural expression that emphasizes our european identity. Also, the term pragmatic sounds very good to me. It actually fits my idea of what a new politic movement should pursue above all, quite perfectly. I'm very curious and willing to follow the partie's actions and, since there´s a Volt in Portugal, maybe I'll think about giving it my support. For the time being I'm quite happy with the liberal partie, but I consider myself also a pragmatic person so, I don't discard the possibility of supporting Volt... let's wait and see...

@@FredoRockwell Explain how Muslims have a “longstanding” presence in France, when almost all of them are either first or second generation immigrants? Furthermore, if nationalism is always bad, why do leftists always support third-world nationalist and anti-globalization movements, but only reject nationalism when Europeans do it? It seems that everyone in the world is allowed to preserve their culture except us!

@@notdoneyet1361 No idea why you're asking me this, but I really try not to make political judgements based on the rights of groups. Do Muslims have a long-standing preserve in France? I don't think it matters. What matters is that the right of each and every French citizen to express their own beliefs is respected. As for why leftists think certain things, not being a leftist I don't think I'm in any position to comment. I would find one and ask them instead. 🙂

Center-left progressive party. We have defined our self as socially liberal after Venzo and Cahen-Salvador left. Venzo was big on the "movment" idea and didn’t really define his ideology during his campaign. But that’s changed now because most Volt Europa members have realised that without a solid ideology, the party can’t really establish itself in politics. Still, Volt Europa is pragmatic in some ways, recognising that what works in one part of Europe might not work in another.
