STORYLINE:
As families and residents struggle to get food and supplies inside the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas volunteers have been handing out bread to those in need.
The Ataya Charitable Foundation has been baking thousands of loaves of bread in the city of Rafah, which teams have been bagging up and giving out to people living in displacement camps.
Since Israel launched its offensive in Gaza, triggered by Hamas' unprecedented October 7 attack on southern Israel, the military campaign has pulverized much of the territory and displaced more than 80% of its population of 2.3 million people.
An Israeli blockade has allowed only a trickle of aid into Gaza and has led to widespread hunger and outbreaks of disease, according to United Nations officials.
