This version of Volver has been arranged by Piazzolla for his friend Troilo and himself. I was inspired to play and record this wonderful piece by seeing all those great videos made by Claudio Constantini, whom I really admire. Of course Constantini has much better technique on the Bandoneon and much better technique with the audio and video equipment.
This piece is not that easy to record because the two players have to interact with each other permanently and very closely. To record one voice of the piece and then play the other voice to it does not work. Actually I decided to have 5 separate parts where either one voice is following the other and vice versa. This worked at least half way, but then I had to recombine those 5 parts. Additionally there are some desynchronizations between video and audio. These are the result of converting the original "mov" video files, made with an old iPad3, to "mp4" files that I could process. Only recently I found that this desynchronization can be healed by using a better video converter like winx_hd_converter_deluxe. Looking at each other and giving each other a cue during playing was not really possible because I still had to look into the sheets which of course cannot be seen in the video...
