Cool to find this, I welded mine (2 x B230FTs) over 5 yrs ago Low current Mig with oven preheating and sand cooling worked well enough, both cars still going well. Track car out again with some new cracks. Good to see this as I need to do it again.

This is awesome! I'm definitely going to send one in; I did buy a cracked manifold like this, i need to find it.

Hey! I know the Yoshifab name, and like your video. I'm surprised someone would cast a knockoff manifold like that. Very interesting and good to know. Here's my "obvious question" - why seal the cracks? What is the benefit in doing it, other than knowing it isn't going to come apart in some "rapid self-disassembly" way? I am in the process of rebuilding a b230ft to go into my 89 GLE (yuck) wagon, and noticed the single small crack I used to have is now most or all the cracks shown in your video.

I'm surprised anyone bothers making a knock-off redblock manifold - is the demand worth the effort? I've got three 90+ manifolds in my garage, all cracked to varying degrees. Trying to work out if shipping them from the UK to USA and back for you to fix would be completely nuts ;)

They do get alot of cracks, and when I had mine a good few years back it was hard to find information on welding manifolds. Luckily the Volvo material is good and weldable. You can do it with a Mig+steel wire, any decent welder should be able to manage it with the preheating and slow cooling.

Id be interested in a good quality turbo manifold (header). Seems like only ones available is across the pond and its getting harder to get big stuff shipped to the US. I think there is a big demand for something other than 90plus manifold here in the states. Id be your first buyer.

Pretty surprised that someone cloned a 90+ manifold.

What's the total cost with shipping from 619 to yoshi fab?

That's some skill right there. Very cool. Just a question...why not at that point go with a aftermarket or build custom made manifold that would be quality enough to end all of those cracking issues? I'm no fab guy but after the first one is built, the ones after would be relatively straight forward right?

I have some budget manifolds in the works but they still cost double what modding an old 90+ Lots of people are not looking for a better design, they are looking to get their car running right. Nothing WRONG with them, they just have a LOT of heat cycles on them at this point in time.

If this is going on a street car- aftermarket manifold is not legal unless it is approved. In many states this is a big deal.

@@geothon Literally the only reason every 940 is running something like a 19t on stock headers. You can't make it look too modified or else it won't pass.. Imagine what awesome cars we'd have if it wasn't for stupid regulations (I'm all for the good ones and smog/brake test/rust checks etc.)

@@tracklizard4018 Yeah, I know. I was a smog tech in Cali for almost 20 years. The regulations are tight and if you want to modify you have to play smart. Bigger turbo can be OK if the install looks clean (no ugly looking waste gate actuator bracket, etc). Average smog tech will probably not spot the 3in downpipe as the modified part. Upgraded intercooler can also fly below the radar if it's spray painted black and looks stock.

@YoshiFab any updates on those manifolds?

is there anyone that makes a respectable (well built) b230FT aftermarket turbo manifold? Or is is just a case of having to be on an endless search for a used OEM (hopefully not cracked) manifold?
