I modified it between the axle and the control arm, I made some 40mm blocks between there. Just like you would do with lowering blocks on a leaf spring setup.

Thanks for this, I've never seen this trick before but it looks almost like it should have been done like this from the factory for these coilover sets. One thing I don't understand is why you lower the car onto a wooden block from the back. It looks super sketchy, why not put the car on axle stands and then raise the wheel with the jack until the holes align?

You can buy shorter rear coilovers from classic swede. Also could remove the bump stop in the coilover to get a few more inches low

I love this idea! Just got a set of BC coilovers for me 240 and I'm wondering if this same technique would work for the 240, as the rear suspension is setup very similarly to the 740/940

It would probably work. You can take your front coilover spring and test if it fits in there

What year lexus springs did you use and front or rear i cant find that part number you used 62.100.008 , only ones i find are 62.200.8

with the original bc racing coilovers, did you have the street/track stiffness or drifting/racing? the difference was for street/track 5 and 6 kg for front and back and drifting/racing 10 and 8 kg for front and back spring stiffness.

I had them custom made myself. Measured and drew it myself and got it cut out and threaded. But from what I heard, BCRacing has such nuts available for sale. So maybe check their site or shoot them an email

@@lecustoms7351 hi. I do not remember the thread size, my friend did it for me. And the top mount is called talerzyk in Polish, but you probably can not buy that. Gotta source it from a old coilover

OK ....10 points for ingenuity. HOWEVER, Volvo spent millions of dollars designing their cars and I am sure that shock absorber mounting point of lower control arm was never designed to carry the rear corner weight of the vehicle or cope with extra weight and related stress of the body overhang supported where the shock mount position is located. The question I would ask is how long will it take for the flex created at this point to break the arm and possibly cause the vehicle to crash and injure someone. My point is and in my opinion, this is not a modification that should ever be done to a street driven vehicle without proper engineering advice.

You kinda have a point here. BUT the same thing has been done for years in BMW's and I've never heard about any failures like this, I've abused my car with this suspension setup for track day's now and so far nothing happened, and also Volvo did overbuild a lot of the parts on those cars and I'm sure since the original mounting point of the spring is actually on the same part just further back, it will easily hold up. Also looking at how the rear suspension is designed on those cars, if a damper mount would break, the wheels would still be facing the same direction the car would just tilt and MAYBE lean on the wheel
