My 2007 Volvo XC90 cranks but would not start. Low pressure pump sends fuel to high pressure pump but then fuel would NOT get injected into pistons. Bosch CP3S3 0445010111 HP pump is not pumping enough fuel pressure.
In this part 3 video, I'm cranking it for more than 1 hour to see if it would start but it didn't. But it has certainly made progress by the sound of the engine.
I suspected it was the actual pump which is either blocked inside or its seals are worn, so not building enough pressure to send fuel to common rail/injectors.
Car is now sorted. The issue I had was...I had not done the priming correctly, therefore there was lots of air in the fuel line. I did the key On and OFF cycle for over 20 times (as advised by Volvo) and then car started straight away.
If you remove any fuel system line (like a hose or a banjo bolt or high pressure pipe etc), it sucks air in then stops sending fuel to common rail. When you turn the key to ON (ignition on) and if you have air then you could hear fuel flowing (blowing raspberry noise) in there inside the fuel filter housing under rear passenger seating location. So you have to prime until you hear nothing but whining noise. This is achieved by above ON and then OFF method.
Thank you
