850 o2 Sensors are basically the same procedure for both the Turbo and Non Turbo Models. The exhaust orientation may be a bit different but basically the same essential information can be used. Hope that helps.

Just open the hood about halfway to its normal position and look on each hinge, there's a small metal tab that needs to be flipped out of the way that will let it open straight up. Hope that helps!

When I pried up the red thing one side broke off in the connector and I couldn't get it out. I had to basically break the sides off the connector that held the red pieces. I was still able to plug the new sensor to it and wrapped it with tape to keep it together. Hopefully it will hold. It really should have a new connector assembly.

Hi, at 3:30.. you're using an "o2 sensor wrench".. What size is this, and will a flare nut (tubing) wrench work just as well?

I have an 850 GLT wagon that will be receiving a new down pipe and exhaust system courtesy of the in-house mechanic. Are you of the opinion that the O2 sensors have enough slack, with the frame clips removed, to allow for the sensors to be removed without disconnecting them as shown in this video? My compliments to FCP on the quality and the DIY motivation element in their videos. It makes you confident in working on these cars. DGBryan

Sir! Thank you very much for this video! I need to drop the exhaust on my 2004 XC90 due to a broken exhaust manifold flange/pipe break, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to remove the oxygen sensor clip with the red tab. It is in a hell of a spot as well which further complicated the task. I figured that is how it worked, but I wasn't sure and was hesitant to put too much pressure on it. I can now attack the clip with some confidence! Really, a sincere thanks from ABQ...I do have a question while I am at it... I wanted to remove the exhaust to weld the broken pipe/flange, do you see any codes or problems that may occur when I get everything hooked back up? I am not planning on replacing the sensors, and there were no previous codes displayed...Thanks again, I struggled for almost 3 hours yesterday with that dang clip!

Hello John, I'm glad to hear the video helped you out. I don't see you having a problem with codes from welding the pipe and flange. If you don't have codes at the moment you should be good on that.

I have a friend with a 2001 s80 with a 6 cylinder motor. He paid a mechanic to change one of the front oxygen sensors. The car ran really good for a day or two, now it is having the same problem with rough idling. I think the error code is P0402. Did the mechanic change the wrong sensor? Or is it another one going bad, or the new one is bad?

Got a 1999 Volvo v70 xc turbo with a P0422. Do you have any videos for this issue?
@fcpeuro
7 жыл бұрын
Hello Stephen, there's no videos available at the moment. The P0422 is a catalytic converter code which is usually triggered when the cat is no longer efficient. You will most likely need to replace your catalytic converter to solve this issue.

Do you really need that special socket to remove the sensor?
@fcpeuro
7 жыл бұрын
It is highly recommended to use an oxygen sensor socket to prevent rounding off of the hex. Also, the socket allows you to get around the wiring lead as well. The other option is to cut the wiring lead and use a 22mm closed ended wrench on the hex as well. The only issue there is in some cases you will not have the room to use it. The sockets specific to the job make the task easier and reduce the chance of creating further complications.

You could also use a line wrench (aka flare nut wrench). You should have a set of these in your tool set anyways, great for brake line/trans cooler line/fuel line fittings, etc as well. It's the same concept with less complication (basically a box end with a small opening for wires/tubing)

i've heard that you need to reset the ECU, is that true? how do I do that?
@fcpeuro
9 жыл бұрын
Egghead820 Clear codes with a scan tool is the best way however SOMETIMES you can disconnect the ECU and vehicle battery for a few hours or so and it MAY clear depending on the fault code. Best way to go about this would be to clear the codes and reset the adaptives with a scan tool.

What causes o2 sensors to randomly go out?
@fcpeuro
5 жыл бұрын
Over time oxygen sensors may become covered with byproducts of combustion, such as sulfur, lead, fuel additives, oil ash, etc. This contamination causes the sensor to lose its ability to produce voltage and send the right signal.

FCP Euro would you happen to know why my car is throwing a 121 and a 322 code? It’s got a brand new MAF and I just cut the catalytic converter off yesterday. Service light and engine light comes on then the service light goes off. Theeeeen there’s a tiny little right light in the bottom left corner that randomly comes on and off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
