The guy is wrong, Haldex AWD is real-time AWD not "fake AWD". Haldex system is amptive, as soo as you turn the ignition key on, system is running. Power required between front and rear, or left and right are adjusted all the time depends what manufacture are tune it.

You are wrong. I have a S60 AWD Turbo.... Its primary is FWD. Once wheel spin is detected Haldex pump engages which engage the rear diff

@@Chickenassable I have read that the distribution is 90 front 10 rear at all times , until loss of grip is detected by the system and grip/drive is then distributed accordingly ..

@@Chickenassable Haldex Gen 3 and 4 are "preloaded" which means you will allways have torque split 90% front and 10% rear, if the system detect slip on the front wheels it will transfer torque to the rear up to 1500Nm, Haldex Gen 2 1200Nm and Gen 5 1050Nm.

Looking at how the system works, now I'm beginning to get convinced the Haldex system is quite good, and probably can match the full-time systems of Audi's & Subaru's systems. Also, the brilliant thing is it is FWD when not in use; something good for saving fuel.

DekaHaze Why so? Less driveline losses & wear-tear on entire system sound like a good deal. Also if you live in a place that constantly snows, the AWD would probably be on nearly all the time, not really affecting performance. While I'm not a fan of FWD, it does in theory make quite a bit of sense. If you wanted a corner carver, get a RWD sports coupe.

NO, no, and again- NO. This type of Haldex never will be even near to AUDI AWD, or Subaru AWD. Those two, completyly different types of AWD. Even more- this type haldex that is used in volvo s60r IS NOT AWD, becouse it is not All Wheel Drive, but 2+2, and this type of drive IS NOT AWD. Torque on rear wheels in this Haldex generation is not used on rear wheals until computer not turn on a clutch, so S60r is not AWD. In haldex third generation, torque is used on rear wheals full time, and this type of drive is trully AWD.
