I'd like to know when the scope companies are going to focus on weight savings with good optical clarity and a usable reticle. The LHT was a step in the right direction. But it's like they are trying to outdo each other on how heavy they can make a scope, not just how much top end they can put in one.

Not a fan of the majority of reticles when the fine center dot is crowded right to the edge of it. It might as well be a crosshair at that point. 1moa/.25 mil clear space around the dot looks better to me, better if the vertical and horizontal crosshairs don't terminate in bars or blobs next to the dot. Dialing and shooting at .5moa target dots with a center hold feels like the reticle is a piece of window screen. Not sure what the reticle is made for but that doesn't feel good to me.

I've recently - just in the last few years - improved my long range game and moved up to shooting reliable hits and well-defined groups out past 1 mile. I'm finding that above 20x there's not a whole lot of benefit for me as a shooter, even past a mile. I've always been a fan of the MPVO but with 10x - and, thanks Atibal, even 12x - magnification ranges becoming ever more popular I really do think that the mid-range optic is the perfect optic. Can't wait for someone to offer a high end 1.5x-18x with maybe a 42-50mm objective. That feels like it would do everything from CQB out to two miles. If whoever makes that would thread the objective end and sell a 2x or 3x thread-in magnifier, it would probably even double as a spotter, though experience with the Trybe magnifier makes me think there's not much use for an external magnifier when actually shooting for precision. Anyway, great content, as always, C_Does. Thanks for the review!
@CDOES
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words mate! And I agree with your standpoint on the topic. So many people correlate 'more magnification is more betterer' when sometimes that isn't the case. But it's nice to have the option sometimes when those situations do arise. Old eyes, spotting shots on paper, searching for a target etc. March is coming out with a ffp 1.5-15 that has the potential to be the ultimate, do-it-all optic.

I agree. Id rather more resolution over more magnification. Id also prefer a more open eyebox for positioning. To each their own.

Vortex warranty... You'll need it, it's garrantee! Pretty much the sale pitch.
@roganlaforest1465
Жыл бұрын
Well yeah why wouldnt it be? Literally all of the top optic brands have scopes that end up needing warranty, literally on the channel he reviews a ZCO that doesnt track perfectly and thats a alpha tier optic. So a no questions asked warranty policy would be a good sale point.

@@roganlaforest1465 I had to use it twice with a pst gen 1... Once with a pst gen 2... Once with strike eagle 1-8... Every single Vortex owner I know had to use the warranty. @@northman77 Every store within 100 miles of me stocks Vortex, Id be hard pressed to find one stocking any alpha tier optics. Safe bet that theres much more low to mid tier Vortex optic sales than S&B, NF, ZCO ect. More of those optics out there the more chance you run into someone that has a warranty story.

@@northman77 Feel free to spend your money with any brand you feel is right. Vortex's low to mid tier optics wont have the same specs or quality as their top tier, hence the price and feature differences. Same goes for every other company with products in different price points. Leupolds the same, their VX-5 wont be the same quality and performance as their MK-5.

@@CDOES any thoughts on how the ATACR 7-35 might compare to the Razor 6-36? I have a 6-36 due this week but can cancel and opt for the ATACR for an even grand more. @@cwp86 If you are on the fence about spending a grand more for the NF 7-35 I would say get it. Yes it’s an investment and by no means inexpensive but I really think you will see an optical difference in low light/ less than ideal lighting situations. Vortex has a great warranty but so does NF. People always rationalize getting Vortex by citing their warranty but I would rather have something known for being quality. It is all personal preference though and what your requirements are. Im a firm believer in getting the most you can afford when it comes to optics. Get a quick detach mount and run 1 $3000+ piece of glass on everything or have 5 $600 scopes that are good but not great on everything. Good luck on your decision but I figure if NF is good for all the sniper programs in the military including socom it will outlast your desire to shoot it 👍.

I'm curious about one quick aspect. Have you considered that maybe the discrepancy on the tracking might have been caused by the zero stop system? Since it's zeroed using the internal portion of the turrets and not the external turrets, it's possible the internal turrets were in an in-between setting of 0.05 mils and that was an error added to the external djustments. Maybe. I'm not sure. Vortex did a rather poor job explaining it in the manual. I had to watch their KZitem video to really get it.

Thank you for your reviews. Gen III 6-36x56 vs Gen II 4.5-27x56, the latter known for its generous eye box. Which of the 2 has the most generous eye box at 20X power would you say? I read on various platforms that the Gen 3 has considerably better glass however a tighter eye box? What is your experience? If indeed that is the case, I would probably get the Gen 2. It's all about ease of getting behind for me. I the past I owned the Hensoldt 4x16, which by far beat my ZCO527 which in terms had a slightly more generous eye box than my S&B 5x25 PMII, although not by much in my opinion. Having said this, I am just not interested in building >10K rifle/scope combo's anymore and 4K for a scope is just not where I am in life anymore. I sold everything a few years ago but am considering picking it back up again. This time however I find myself looking at the Gen 2 and 3 Vortex's both in the 2 - 2.5K range. I'd appreciate your input.
