I've had this amp for about a month and it has seriously made me a better player. With a low watt tube amp, you can really learn how to ride the point of "breakup" as you play. My dynamics and the way that I hit notes with my pick hand have totally improved.

Ian Dorto It is a great amp for both clean and dirty tones. The only knock I have is that it does not take pedals very well, especially with a Les Paul. That said, you don`t need much more than the clean and dirty sounds it provides.

I absolutely LOVE this amp. I've played guitar for almost 30 years and owned some legendary amps during that time (Music Man HD-150 half stack, Mesa Boogie rectifier, Fender Twin Reverb, Roland JC120, Marshall half stack and more) and honestly this Vox is one of my favorites of them all. It is perfect for home recording and playing smaller live shows because it breaks up beautifully even at lower volumes when you want it to. And the reverb and tremolo built in is a great plus as well

+kenwalker5280 The amp is amazing. I don't care for the reverb, but it's usable. It just doesn't have much character or something. It's sort of generic and digital sounding. I use a Carbon Copy set low with some repeats.

I've had this amp from new for 3yrs now. It's always sounded great. One of the stock tubes started to crackle, so I easily swapped them all out for NOS Mullards - warmer tone all round. I get great sound from both my Les Pauls & my Strat. Current favourite boost/overdrive through it is a J Rocket "Archer". Broad range of genres can be played through this amp. I'll never sell it

In my opinion, the AC-15-C1 is THE perfect amplifier; I've played through one a few times (I don't have one yet, but I'm saving for one; I've played Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, SGs, a Flying V, a BC Rich Mockingbird, a couple of Ibanez guitars, a vintage Vox guitar, and I even played a Carvin guitar through it once). It sounds great clean, even better over-driven; by the way, nice rendition of "No Matter What"!

hey guys, BEFORE YOU BUY THIS AMP, FYI, READ THIS. As a fellow guitar tone enthusiast, i love the vox ac15c1, its so chimey and the smooth breakup of the el84s is nice. the only complaint i have is theres no effects loop. so any effects that you'd normally use after distortion in the signal chain will sound distorted. Thats why im getting the vox night train nt15c1 instead. its a 15 watt ALL TUBE combo WITH an effects loop and footswitchable channels. i did a comparison at a music store between the vox night train nt15c1 g2and the ac15c1, and they sounded exactly the same harmonically. the eq was a little different when set flat but otherwise they sound EXACTLY the same. the night train has the same chimey cleans and smooth distortion. and its only $500 whereas the ac15 is $630. IMHO the ac15 has no advantages over the nt15c1 g2. so just consider the vox night train before you cash out on the ac15. just a thought
@zdsminorz

This amp is great value for money. I mean, $599 for all tubes with that kind of overall sound quality and nice trem and reverb effects? Hard to beat for sure! The Hughes and Kettner Statesman at $300 more has much more sparkly cleans and more headroom (40-60 watts), but not the crunch of this baby. Vox is totally on to a winner here.
