Great video, very well done. Brings back great memories of 60's and 50's tv and movies sci-fi like Lost in Space, Time Tunnel and one of the best sci-fi if not mainstream movies ever, Forbidden Planet.

Holy crap! That is amazing guys. Irwin, L.B. Abbott and the bunch would be way proud of this, nice job! The sense of speed and climbing really made me feel like I was there somewhat. Thanks for the post!

Normally I am loathe to see any so-called re-imaginings of classic TV series or films however most of Irwin Allen's offerings would certainly benefit from today's CG advancements. His story telling was campy but compelling and I believe shows like 'Voyage', Land Of The Giants' and 'Time Tunnel' (if they stuck to the same themes and not preach), would capture a new crowd of younger viewers. BTW, great sim.

First time for me to see the Flying Sub take off from a runway. Just because I haven't seen this, doesn't make it untrue. I just have always seen the FS coming outta the belly of the Seaview,

Its a SUCTION-aircraft. Notice the vents on the top-hatch-recess. The brilliance of Admiral Nelson's design. The device has two atomic-engines for air or watr turbothrust, and evacuates air from the top, adding to performance and lift, like the stingrays that prowl the sea, occasionally breaking the surface and flying for a short bit. Control is from vectoring the trhust of the two turbothrusters. Irwin Allen rules! Thanks Irwin, wherever you are.

Could the splashdown with the FS-1 be actually possible without damage to the fuselage? I mean, could a wave-cutting device open up the water to lessen the impact on the sub fom a high altitude? What would power the device? Ultrasonics? Turbos? Thrust? Thoughts...

Why did you say that, as VTOL was not shown in this video? Maybe your thinking of STOL(Short Take and Landing) which was shown.

Yes, perhaps crash splash is possible but unecessary. Beefing up the structure would make FS1 very heavy. Additionally, even if the craft survived a sharp angle water entry, the very high G-force from impact with the water would actually kill the crew! The show actually got it wrong. If FS1 was real, it would land like any sea plane would, gently as shown in the youtube video, then simply operate like regular sub after having reached a much slower speed.
