My Dad also B-24's out of California to patrol the coast during WWII. I followed his lead and also an Army aviator but flew rotary wings in Vietnam. Years after that I did a lot of reading about Vietnam before I returned for a visit. Did you know B-24's bombed Saigon? Japanese invaded and French did nothing to help Vietnamese. During that time, the US OSS was funding, training and arming Ho Chi Minh. They were smart and recognized he was a nationalist above all else.

Gorgeous! Can't help but think, 'Yup, that's how they look when they roll out of the factory.' Is that nose sitting a little low. A local buddy did FL B24 with all moving turrets and a weathering and paint scheme to match the picture his father took in front of a B24. I had to see it in person. I'm sure your bird looks even better in person as well. Pictures and video look nice but can hardly do justice. Believe it or not, even my 12 year old daughter enjoyed seeing my B17 fly in person. Crazy cool scale birds and you're efforts are great with the turrets. I didn't even mount the guns yet. Ha ha. Got to go fly it now!

With seeing the Mephis Belle in person I was trying to get video to eventually do scale on my B17. One thing that amazed me was not only how much oil was on a wing behind an engine, but also that one engine was so much more. The oil shows up so much more against the OD. If it were a model someone would criticize saying it looks like they just flung oil and dirt way too much and it blotched in chunks. Ha ha. Your B24 looks like a highly cared for and detailed Corvette. It looks solid and well built. My FW B17 was glued to one piece and is solid. I need to fling some oil though.

I'm for sure going to get this model, I just can't decide if I want to go electric or stick with methanol 4 strokes for that sound/authenticity. Problem is they will poke out of the cowls a LOT... I think I asked on here or one of the forums when you first got this done but if you are allowed to tell us what sort of flight times are you getting again? I can get 20+ minutes out of a .52 methanol 4 stroke and a 10oz tank with CDI ignition...
@Thercgeek
5 жыл бұрын
I'm getting 7+ minutes on the airplane easily with the 4300s. I hear you on the four strokes, would sound awesome! Problem is it requires hacking up the cowls. @@Thercgeek I'm going to try to do as close to a copy of your bird including the turret boards whenever they become available. When do you expect those turret boards to be available?
@Thercgeek
5 жыл бұрын
Nice! For the same 3blade props, I'd say that these motors are pretty darn good. I'm very happy with the performance of the airplane as it has power when it needs it, but cruises very efficiently at partial throttle. You could look at e-flite 25s also as they have a 1000 kv and I think an 825 kv. The 825 might be good for some larger props. I actually have the boards now, but am finalizing one feature of the software and then will get them on my website and do an announcement here.
