Ingredients
2 cups desiccated coconut, finely processed if too coarse
2 cup sugar or 3⁄4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1⁄4 cup milk
1⁄4 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)
2 tablespoons toasted nuts like almonds or pistachios, chopped (optional)
Instructions
Cook on medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens into a mass, about 2-3 minutes. Mix together the condensed milk or sugar , milk, and coconut in a heavy pan.
Remove from heat and stir in cardamom powder and chopped nuts. Allow to cool slightly.
Grease your palms with ghee. Take small portions of the mixture and roll into smooth balls.
Roll the ladoos in desiccated coconut to coat evenly.
Refrigerate the coconut ladoos for at least 2 hours before serving to allow them to set.
Store the ladoos in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
For a vegan version, use coconut oil instead of ghee and jaggery or sugar instead of condensed milk.
