Hey man, firstly thanks for the video it really shows the process. I wanted to ask how long it would take to take the tank off and back on? as I'm literally just replacing the tank after an accident.

I can remove my tank in about 5 mins. If it's your first time, you may have a little trouble getting the fuel clip off. I would say 30 mins, take your time so you don't break that fuel clip. Putting the tank back on is just as quick.

You didn't show how your unplugged the wiring to the fuel pump. I've been trying to unplug mine and it's so GD tight I can't budge it. You did help me by showing how to disconnect the fuel line. I thought it might be one of those connectors that require a special tool. Thanks.

Shoot, your right. On top of the connector is a tab, use a little screw driver and ply up as you pull the inner connector to the front of the bike. When facing it, the Tab (outer connector)right side. Inner connector left side. Hope this help's you out.

@@theidiotrighthere1829 Thanks. I finally figured out how to get the plug off the metal bracket it is mounted on. Small tab inside the right end of the plug. Pull it up and it slides right off. With it off the bike I could get a better look at how the plug separates. Then is wasn't a problem to unplug. I would like to spend 15 minutes alone in a locked room with one of the engineers who design those plugs. I would bitch slap him around the room until couldn't see straight.

@@glennmosley7690 I removed it the first time without a hitch. Now I am in the same situation as you were in. Its so tight. As you said there is small gap on the right end top of the plug. If I put a screwdriver in it slides a little.

Hey dude…THANKS for posting that video. I have an ‘06 Vulcan 900 Classic (bought it a year ago, May). I don’t have an owners manual and have wondered how to remove the gas tank. Now I know 🤩. I have a question you might can answer for me. The control module that resets the clock and trip meter doesn’t work. I can’t reset the trip meter with each trip or each fill up and cannot reset the clock. It will change between each mode (clock, total mileage, and trip distance) but that is all it will do. Does the entire control module have to be replaced (including speedometer) or just the part of that controls the clock and trip meter. And would you have a ball park idea of how much it might cost…just ball park. If you can’t provide an answer no problem. Just after watching your video I thought you might be able to help with my problem. Thanks again.

I would guess the micro switch is bad aka push button. If you know how to solder, it would only be a few dollars to fix. The only way to know for sure, you'd have to open it up and test it with a multimeter. It would not be worth the price of a replacement speedo, even a used one will be well over $100.

Just to make sure. You are holding in the button when on the trip to reset it right. And the same for the clock. Holding in the reset for about 3 sec. If this is what your doing than check the next post

@@theidiotrighthere1829 thanks for the info. It probably is the micro switch. It all worked the first few times I reset everything after I bought the bike but it quit working. I may try a new switch or just leave it as it is. Certainly not worth $100+ to fix something that is more of a convenience than a necessity. Again thanks for the info.

What was the original problem, how did you know it was bad?
@theidiotrighthere1829

My original problem was the temp light would not turn off after doing a coolant flush. It was not the temp sensor. I knew this after buying the sensor, but wanted to show how to install anyways.

To add to this, I added a HD Fairing off of a street glide. I added the idiot lights and when I hacked in to the wiring harness I back feed 12volts to the Temp Light. Guessing I blow the resistor going to the light. I added the light to the fairing and removed all the lights off the gas tank gauge cluster. Hope this info help's you or anyone reading this.

Hey brother, I have a question..when should my radiator fan kick on when my bike is on? I just bought my 2008 vulc and I noticed as I ride it almost never turns on..but I never go for long drives. But I would at least think it would turn on at some point anyway right??? Please help

When I first got my bike it would kick on with in 20min's on my ride home after work. When temps were in the 90's. After changing the anti-freeze and upgrading the oil to Mobil 1 racing oil. It hardly kicks on now, as long as your bike is getting good air flow it shouldn't kick on to often.

If your worried about the fan not kicking on and want to test that it works. I quick way to find out is to unplug the temp sensor, as soon as you turn the key on the fan will come on.
