I was stationed at Offutt AFB, NE October 1981, There was a contingency of Vulcans Stations there. Got to see them fly first hand. Beautiful aircraft.

My school pal's Dad, who flew Corsairs in WW2 for the NZ airforce, was a test pilot for Vulcans. I lived near Woodford and used to see them all the time.

Guy is such a lucky man to be a part of this. However, it makes me so sad to see this majestic aircraft touch down for the very last time. An icon has died.

Bruce Blake the last time we saw the Vulcan our son was a baby he is now 44 years old. He didn't like the noise, he's was a sook and still is with tattoos? We left the airfield and went to the high ground above Laverton Airfield overlooking it. Guess what our son is still a sook.

What made me sad was not grounding her but dismantling the other Vulcans for no reason!

Bombing in the pitch black of night from 10,000 feet, (nearly 2 miles up) using 1950's aircraft technology. And that's after flying 3,800miles (6,100 km) and employing mid-air refuelling 7 times to get there. Pretty good I would say. Anyway, they accomplished their aim of putting Port Stanley runway out of use to the Argies (just).
