Love it or hate, the crowd singing along with Joe Dart is how I discovered Vulfpeck. I saw a video of “crowd sings along with bass player” and I was like “that’s something you don’t see every day”. I’ve been hooked ever since. I love this band and Joe Dart is a beast!

I think he has a jazz background, and perhaps formal music training. Part of that would be solfage (think Do Re Mi), learning to sing all notes as a reference to the root. I had jazz musician friends and most of the them sang along with what they were playing to some degree.
