this project is absolutely fantastic!! would probably be the best choice for DIY electronic ignition efforts. as an added bonus,you can set dwell and timing by adding delays in the code. add some extra outputs to the board,injectors,a few sensors and some extra code and you got yourself a basic EFI system and coil on plug.

I might try that modification on a 8v distributor. That's a nice set up.

hi im looking to use this on an burn EFI that is to expensive, the fuel is provided by carburetor style, SO how i make the program (CKP SENSOr)

Hi, I'm really new to this, but i'm trying to do something very similar. Can you explain further how you got the 5V arduino to use 12V for the ignition? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question!
@jeep2003

The gm module shown at 6:07 only needs about 3 volts to trigger the coils, so the 5v from the arduino is enough. It is a solid state relay.

WOW! I had looked into solid state relays before, but had no idea there were coils that would operate on such low voltage! that's awesome! Thank you so much!

How did you distinguish between each cylinder? Wouldn't the arduino have to find #1 TDC on power up or first crank?
@jeep2003

+WayneKellen - When the hall effect sensor senses from high to low it fires one coil (which is a pair of cylinders) then when it senses from low to high it fires the other coil (other pair of cylinders).

+jeep2003 I totally understand. Wasted spark comcept. I basically did the same on a tractor with the CPK and coil pack from a 2005 chevy aveo. Thanks for the info.

Well we put the original stuff back in and sold the car about 3 years ago so yeah the arduino still works lol

nice work,but how do you control the dwell and ignition timing curve?
@jeep2003

Thanks. The distributor does the timing curve. It still has the weights in it like factory

I guess one needs to be a science student to do this right,
