I did this to a 2000 Miata. The difference is, that i had to cut a Porsche Cayman bumper cover in half vertically AND horizontally, because the Cayman bumper cover is wider than the Miata. My Miata looks like a mini Porsche. 😁😁😁. Every Miata owner is blown away by how my car looks.

I’ve used PU type adhesive to bond floors into race cars. Use it to bond 2 bits of Ali together then try and rip them apart, the Ali will rip before the PU let’s go, it’s bloody magic stuff, oh and handy hint wear 2 pairs of disposable gloves when using it, if you get it on you’re hands it’s going to be there for weeks and nothing shifts it.

The tiger seal is awesome used it many times and its normally stuck solid in 24 hours. I just make sure to rough up the areas first and clean them with ipa before applying. Keep the bits of the bumpers you have cut off , extra material for plastic welding and for testing and to see if they melt together ok. When I plastic weld I don't just melt the surface area , I almost go right through the plastic and build it back up mixing the two pieces together. Makes it as strong as the original bumper or better if you build up more layers on the back. . When you plastic weld this way its back to one solid piece of material and is flexible, if its just heated up at the ends of the joint its more like just gluing two pieces together and can be weak and not flexible. I normally use an old flat head soldering iron and wear a mask as the fumes are terrible off the plastic. The bumper looks great mate, good decision to mold them together, should be really strong with the bonus of having the original bumpers fixing points.

Great stuff fella, bit of advice if you care to take it. Don’t go straight to filler, use some fiberglass filler and finish with stopper. The reason fo this is if you go heavy on the filler months later you will see ‘sinkage’ so this will reduce the likelihood of this happening. Keep up the good work
