There you go William, if you spray the back of those screws, since you’re able to get to them. Maybe give them a good spray. Wait two or three hours do it again. I would repeat that process three or four times if they have been in there a while. Hope you’re doing well my friend.

Nice, never realized I could get to the screws behind. I sprayed on from the front. I did find a big #4 with a square shaft. I put a wrench on the shaft and had a lot more leverage. I thought about getting the impact driver, but the new stuff won’t be as good as that old one of yours. That’s when stuff was built to last.

@@SladesVWBeetle Well, whats the one thing it does here more than anywhere else? RAIN! And what is the one thing that everyone neglects on their VWs? THE SEALS! So yeah, they tend to fill up like a swimming pool until the bottom of the pool gives out. LoL! Rust is a big issue here, but its different from salt rust, its typically limited to cavities that can hold water, and in a damp environment, all nuts bolts and other hardware make themselves permanent lol!

Hey, I had a 69 nova back in the day. Wish I still had it. We all have that story huh? It seems like some vw parts are cheap. But some, especially engine parts are really expensive. I found out my car has a 1200 in it. Supposed to be a 1600. And it’s broken! I have been shopping for a used 1600 to no avail, so far. So for now, I will get every other thing done. This car does not deserve a rebuilt 2500$ engine, you know.

@@michaelnelson9140 Most of the parts are fairly reasonable. The engine parts can add up quickly. Car craft, has pretty good prices on engine parts. Compared to some other places. I would find a used 1600 if possible, and just rebuild it. 69 nova? Very sharp car there. I bet you wish you still had that for sure. I like small block Chevy, and even the in-line six. What great motors they were.
