I bought a Beru for about 40 bucks. it has the correct resistance.I am running it with a 20 year old compufire. works fine. back in the 60s some of the 911 Porsches came with Beru spark plugs from the factory. I did predelivery inspections and saw plenty of them. they were pink. cheers

beru is about the only option. now. unless you have a stack of old bosch They usually last forever. First one I recall ever seeing bad. Some of mine were on egnines that sat out in the weather for 30 years and still worked perfect. this one the resistor was done. Really weird.

Hey Mike ! to get oil pressure take a trans. oil bottle with a witch hat top and force oil in the oil pressure hole . Where I worked in the engine shop we did it to all kinds of motors before pick up .

I’ve read some of the best aftermarket fan housings are from Scat. About the exhaust Gene Berg had similar styles (and still do)back in the day.

Glad you got it running Mike !! Well, you've convinced me to ditch my SVDA with pertronix and flamethrower coil for something new . I'm going with the Shockwave distributor and coil. You're right, the quality of coils, points and condensers have gone downhill so bad it just doesn't make sense to keep buying that stuff when there's a better product out there. Thanks for another great video !! I'll let you know how it turns out. Hope I can make it work with dual carbs.

yea I bought the last one at AA performance. They are super great I got a used coil for this one that worked. .....IMO Pat has some more coming. He is out too. I am hoping for another shipment soon. They cant stay on the shelves. Clean sparkplugs cant hurt.

Wow, you hit a lot of good points I have been talking about to others. Bad condensers, points and coils nowadays. I am pretty impressed with the magnaspark.

yea its either shockwave or magnaspark in the future for me. unless I get some good used coils. both are the same

Beru coils don't last with air-cooled VW's. I went thru 2 or 3 before i figured out that they oil filled. They peter out quickly and cause all sorts of weak spark issues. Bosch coils are epoxy filled and they last a long time.

I use the early 1.9 wbx dissy with a T1 vac can. You still have the hall sensor failures occasionally, but overall a much more reliable system. The mechanical advance curve is not ideal as you need to run at least 32 degrees total or you'll have a low down flat spot. I'd guess you could probably swop in the T1 weights, but it's not something i've ever tried. Talking of 80's exhausts, my first 'performance' exhaust was a Kadron with the fancy chrome tip.

Mike been watching some of your videos and you seem like that you’re pretty dang knowledgeable on the air cooled motors. I’ve had vw all my life but mainly rabbits and Jettas, but recently I’ve purchased a 1969 beetle I believe its got a 1500 cc single port that seems to run good but does have some oil leaks. It’s pretty slow going up the hills so I wanted to bump up the CC to maybe a 1776 dual port or what do you recommend? I do want to keep everything looking pretty original if possible. If I go with that 1776 motor will all the engine tin that is on the motor now work with the bigger motor? Also the heater tubes all work and wanted to make sure they work with the bigger motor. Any advice and knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all your videos.
