Hello. I own a SEAT Ibiza 1.9 diesel from 1998. It features a Volkswagen 1.9 liter diesel engine. That engine features a belt driven rotary fuel injection pump. Once, I noticed my fuel indicator on the dashboard going low after about 383 km (238 miles). Then, I noticed a strong smell of diesel fuel in my car and smoke from under the bonnet. Then, I opened up the bonnet and I saw that One of my injectors was leaking. That was a faulty return hose. So, I went to a garage and got the problem fixed by installing a brand new return hose. But now, it Works fine without leaking injectors. By the way, Thank you so much for the information.

My Golf 2.0 TDI suffers from intermittent long cranking times once warm. Crank speed is good, battery good. It's done it for years. It starts instantly when cold. This is apparently due to the gears in the starter motor wearing down due to age and is a common issue on these. I believe there are tell tale signs of metal filings on tbe starter motor gears. It does something different on cold start which means this only happens when warm. I cant remember what. May be glow plugs. Only fix is a new starter motor which is not cheap. I have just lived with it!

I have encountered this problem, car starts 100% on first start when engine is cold, engine sounds good no smoke etc. Once driven for a bit and it gets warm, lets say a 15-20min drive to the shops. If i then switch off and try to start the engine would shudder and sounds like it wants to break the engine mounts. The only way to get the engine to start is to keep my foot flat on accelerator while swinging then the engine would start and goes on its way as if nothing was wrong at all. no smoke, engine goes and sounds well when running... If I let it cool down after a drive it will start instantly but if I try to start it when engine has warmed up it will not allow the engine to start... it will sound horrible and sounds like it just-just wants to start but would not until I put foot down on the gas pedal... any idea?

Hello.. my car polo CayB 1.6tdi my problem is that although the air temperature is 25 degrees, my car starts hard at the first start.. glow plugs do not engage.. but if I unplug the fuel temperature sensor, it is activated and the car starts easily.. can you help me ?

It is really hard to diagnose this sort of thing, I am a little baffled by this one and haven't come up with anything conclusive for you yet. Check for error codes. Measure the cars voltage before during and after cranking, I suspect it's not getting enough juice to run the plugs and the starter and as a result the glow plugs are unable to fire up properly. Fully charge the battery and try it then, this will rule out power drain/draw issues. Is the relay cutting in correctly?

@@torquecars It does not give any error codes. system relay is working properly.. the only problem is if the fuel temperature sensor is higher than +10 degrees, the spark plugs signal from the brain does not go to the relay.. my fuel sensor relay and spark plugs are new and healthy.. battery is new and healthy.. when I look from vagcom, iat ect fuel temp and air temp values are reasonable and correct.

@@SwordmuratI have this same problem on my 2012 1.6tdi. Cold start on a warm day is an absolute pig and cranks for ages but a cold start on a cold day is absolutely fine and fires up straight away. I've a brand new battery and once started it drives perfectly with no error codes. Did you find a fix? Thanks.

I used 40w5 on 1.6 engine , it start the car and shut down , in the morning only

1.6 tdi golf 7 clha long crank only during temps above 10 celcius and only first start of the engine.Next startups are ok.Here is my video kzitem.info/news/bejne/zZhq1GmNkmmnknY from vcds. No idea whete to look for the issue. And i have more videos whete fuel pressure starts to build up but camshaft sensor shows zero. I put a new camshaft sensor but long crank sppears from time to time. The engine (1.6 ae288 has no vvt ) so no idea whete tu put my hand to solve the problem.

Ciao,ho visto il video, io ho golf 5 1.9 TDI 105cv, ho fatto praticamente tutto tranne gli iniettori,ho 286k km,l unico koo problema è l accensione a freddo la mattina,solo la mattina,solo a freddo,,sono quasi sicuro che serva agire sui parametri e serve un vero professionista x fare ciò
