As an ID3 owner I can say that a lot of your criticism is not in line with reality. You have to get used to the buttons, but once you're used to them, it's super easy. The light control is far away, but you never need it because it controls everything itself. The infotainment system isn't the best but it's more complained about by non-owners than ID drivers. I dunno - touchscreens can be OK... but only if they're extrmely fast/responsive, and the layout is good (and the controls big enough that you don't need to be ultra-precise to hit them, given the lack of physical contact to feel the edge of the button, etc)... and the VW interface fails on all points. The haptic controls are the same size as the physical ones - without the physical feedback to tell you when you're touching the right control (without looking), or being able to use 'finger friction' to keep your hand on the right control if you hit a bump etc... the touchscreen is laggy and unresponsive, and the layout looks poor (although I've not used it myself, so it may be OK)... and overall it just screams that VW don't know what they're doing with their software - and given that same software actually controls the vehicle, that really doesn't give me the warm fuzzies...

I just checked...MSRP is going to be about $70,000 (USD). Cripes...who is going to be able to afford that? This doesn't even come close to qualifying for a government rebate in Canada.

Let's face it... dreadful tech aside, It's gonna sell by the bucket-load no matter what...! And, as long as that means someone who would've otherwise bought an over-sized, overly-excessive juggernaut-of-an-SUV buys one of these instead, then that'll do... 👍

"No true electric MPV's" - good to see that thorough research was done. The Citroen E-Berlingo (and its Peugeot/Vauxhall variants) might have something to say about that. They're worse on battery size and range, but they're also only £32k, not £57k...

What a shame about the dashboard and front interior experience. And what an error to use the ID screens, haptic buttons, general hardware design and ergonomics. Faster chip and software is the least of it’s problems. This is a real problem fit a great exterior and practical design in a short design.

Love it apart from the totally rubbish haptic feedback UI and screen which is quite literally a car crash.

I think it could have done well with one extra seat at the front or at the rear to make it 6 or 7 seater . Also on a full charge it should give you minimum to 300 miles, because with this vehicle you will travelling to beaches or camping sites not looking for charging points which are rear to find and expensive to at the petrol station. The other option is palce solar for back up.

Fun made-up fact: 100% of motoring journalists hate SUV’s, whilst 100% of the consumers they’re supposed to be informing don’t seem to care. See also: estate cars.

Gotta say that I love the look of the Buzz and, imo, this is how I envisaged and hoped ev’s would look when the majority of manufactures entered the ev market but alas too expensive 😖

The disaster of haptic buttons. And a range of only 250 miles so probably about 200 miles in reality. This won’t sell at all unless the range is 500 miles minimum as this is supposed to be a long distance hauler for families. Wish Tesla has made it or even Hyundai. Imagine Hyundai seems ahead. Massive miss and I appreciate your super honest review.

Fascinating and definitely the space to watch. The best would be to combine the serious look of T5/T6 with an electric engine.. The Buzz looks too “cute”? The T7 is already too much of a departure away from the great shape that was T5/T6

Every time a new car comes out that doesn't have a volume knob or has HVAC buried in a screen, I can't help but to think the engineer was more concerned about impressing someone other than the person they want to sell it to. Once they fix that, it's a pretty sweet ride!

A vehicle like this with either a turbo diesel or hybrid configuration should be the standard vehicle in most places at this point - great efficiency with great usability, and retro looks with a touch of modern. NOT EV - not enough range and I need that where I live. Just give me analog dials and dump the unneeded touch screens that only contribute to accidents anyway.

As a person with an International family, Driving to the airport to pick-up in-laws, with children in tow, dismisses this van as viable. Perhaps if there were 2 jump seats in the rear, I might reconsider.
