A little anecdote based on the 80's metal here. From the age 3 to 13 I attended the Jehovah Witnesses meeting. My mother was into that. I was not into music. The only thing I was exposed too was religious music and things that would air at the radio and it was not something I was interested in. I think I was about 9 yo, me and my brother found a cassette outdoor close to where we lived. So we go home to listen to it. We had never heard something like this yet in our life. It was full of energy and we started to jump on our bed and have fun. It was 80's metal music with high pitch vocals. Sadly I don't remember the name of the band. So, the day after two Jehovah Witnesses (JW) friends that lived close came to play with us and we showed them the music and they jumped on the bed with us. The day after they came back to us and said that a JW mother in the neighborhood heard about that cassette and that she wanted to see it. So, we all went to see her. She took the cassette and started to make a sermon. This was satanic music. Jehoah would clearly be unhappy to know that we listened to such music. And then she take the tape and unroll it and throw the cassette in the garbage bin. I was not sure what I just witnessed and I was mad that she destroyed the cassette. Fast forward when I was 12 yo. My father just died of cancer and we went back to live in his house which made me closer to a cousin. That cousin gave me a tape with Metallica, Megadeth and Sepultura songs on it. Man I liked that music and I started to jump o beds again. Not long after my brother and me announced that we didn't want to attend Jehovah Witnesses again. They insisted that we stayed and met with us and my mother like 3-4 times. They made my mother cry by saying to her that when she will revive in the new paradise we will not be there and things like that. That said, that was the best decision I made in my life. And from that point I neer stopped listening to metal and I still enjoy it 30 years later.

That is a heartbreaking story Baggins. I'm glad you discovered a love of metal at such an early age, but it sounds like you and your family experienced a lot of trauma too. I'm not a religious person, but I do feel a spiritual connection to certain forms of art. I think we may have that in common. Thanks for being so open and sharing all of that. I'm fascinated by people's stories!

This song rocks. I don't know many bands appart early Metallica, Megadeth and Death, oh and Poison from the 80's metal era. I didn't dissect the lyrics, loved your insight on them tho. And i'd like to comment on that. I too agree that humanity need to raise above categorisation of people based on politics, religion, race, sexuality, etc. Sadly this is often labeled as leftist and woke way of thinking, but to me it is the acceptance of the other. If everybody is not accepting the others, than somewhere there is people out there not accepting you. There is cultures out there that are community based where everyone is hepling each other and conscious that what they do to others could be done to them. But, mostly all society is Individualistic. This does not help accpeting the others imo. Everyone become an individual entity that judge the others based on their individuality differences. I mean, we are probably more judgemental toward others because of that. Still, I think in general wher are not at an extreme. People are able to bypass their judgements and we often band togheter to help others. But, I think there is still work to do on that. Sometimes I like to try to figure what a society with more than 20 thousands years of existence would look like. What a more advanced civilisation would look like? Would they still have wars? Would they speak multiple languages and have borders to separate countries? My bet is that division of humanity into different tribes was smoething of the early civilisations and is still something of actuality, but in a far future humanity would evolve from that "phase". What makes me worried about the near future tho is that clash of mentality between our different civilisations. Like clearly Russia, China, North Corea and some middle-eastern countries have a different view on the world. Like different civilisations evolved differently and at different pace. Wars in the future will not be based on acquiring territories but rather about imposing their mentality and beleifs.

Dude, you are a deep thinker! I really appreciate your insight. I too often think about the future of humanity, but I'm optimistic by nature. I think we have a glorious future ahead of us. Not without challenges though. Thanks for the comment! I enjoyed reading it.
