You are a lovely couple offering tips and encouragement to recent arrivals, helping them to assimilate into everyday Canadian life. "Hi" or "hello" are interchangeable when greeting friends, acquaintances, sales clerks, cashiers or restaurant servers. " Hey", "heya" or "what's up" are slangs that the younger ones, aged 15 to 24, might use, with their peer group, more likely between males rather than females. If a cashier asks "Would you like to donate $2 to xxxx (charity) today?" - a more polite response should be "Sorry, not today" or " I did already". A polite way of turning down a cashier's offer for a store's credit card or a store's loyalty card could also be "Sorry, not today" or "I've got too many cards already".

宜家美國同時又成日take it easy 黎say goodbye。 Have you had your lunch haha You are welcome, How are you 其實都無問題的。到你同人交流左100 次, 你就唔會個fd pass salt 俾你都thank you so much 了.
Your greetings are definitely so different from in UK. I rarely hear people saying Hi there / Hey there. We use Hiya, you alright? / Hi how are your? Most people use "Queens' English" and different county has their own slang.
To reply Aiyabebe:The word stressed was used instead of the word emphasised!I never intend to use “address”。This illustrates people of different background have different colloquial habit 。 Thank you for pointing this out, I too, have learnt a lesson。

In uk, normally people say "I am all right, thanks" instead of "No, thanks".
When I go to supermarket, I always greet the cashier when completing the transaction saying "How's your day so far, busy?" that usually opening up a chit-chat scenario. However, if this is a long line behind you, just say, thank you, have a good day.

Mostly we will called welcome my next customer ... hi good morning or afternoon ... how r u ....? Especially due the COVID-19 & 6 feet social distance ! 禮貌上as a front & end customer services 盡量不會令客人站在前等候 cashier 而是等待著. Say again........😷😷😷!
no need to say "sorry" unless you done something wrong!

Agreed. Say "Pardon me" when you are not 100% certain if you've heard exactly what the other person has just said. They will be pleased to repeat what they've said.
“Hi! I am (your name). My family and I just moved into this neighbourhood.”

if you could get rid of this bad habit, that would be wonderful.

So pleased that you both respond to negative comment. I appreciate this attitude. Nobody is perfect, but we take negative feedback and improve it, we can become a better person. support you😊
