Thank you, Sam! I have been living in Waterloo for 7 years now and I love it, less traffic, less people, but still able to purchase Chinese groceries. Previously I lived in Toronto for more than 10 years, as a relative comparison.

I came to Canada in 1988. We (and most of my friends) always knew that Vancouver is for rich retired people who don't need to work to earn a living. If you are not rich and need a paycheck to survive, come to Toronto or its surrounding areas. At that time, Calgary was not so busy yet.

I like 1980 Vancouver ,it was a really beautiful city. It was my first time to see it( beautiful Vancouver !)向應-首歌(你加我加個個加)!
Totally agree with what you are saying. Nothing is cheap here. I am grateful that I settled in North Burnaby after moving here from Hong Kong. I pay pretty low rent but the cost of living is crazy. I am buying grocery for myself only but that costs $500/monthly. It is a struggle after each pay cheque and obviously, you got the big haircut after taxes on the pay. I can't save much $. Not saying I have to save a lot but there is not much to save after. The financial struggle is getting seriously close to Hong Kong from the day I moved here in 2021
Sam, when I came to Vancouver, T&T had only one store - in Yaohan Centre. ;-) Nice Vlog and thank you.

Greater Vancouver has a lot of environmental amenities to offer and mild climate, but the citizens here are paying a premium to live here. Newcomers really need to think it through and weight out if they can utilize the amenities here for the premium that they pay to live here.
I always hating visiting Vancouver and have to drive. Takes too long to get many places. For a city that is size of Vancouver, there is very few freeways so traffic is always slowed down and stopped by traffic lights which makes traffic in Vancouver so congested and bad.
I moved to Canada in 1990 first in Ottawa then Vancouver a few years later. As a new immigrant today I would not choose Vancouver because of housing cost and lack of job opportunities. My children grew up here and they don’t think they can afford to live here. Mind you Vancouver was already expensive and fewer opportunities in 1990s and we don’t have real Canadian winter

OMG... 好耐冇入嚟你嗰D videos. what happened to you? 瘦咗咁多! 😆
You are absolutely right. I will return to Vancouver in August. Hongkongners are myopic. Most of them believe in properties. That’s why first thing they do is to buy a house or apartment! I told my in laws thst I am prepared for price of the apartments I bought to fall 30_40%! Most people don’t think like I do. Of course I am retired and Vancouver will be the last place I live in. 76!
Your observations are actually kinda like a repeat of what happened in the 1980s and 1990s when hundreds of thousands of Hongkongers migrated to Canada, though perhaps to a lesser degree.
U so exaggerated! I have been in Van. from HK fro 35 yrs. There's rule in Macdonald whenever food product been passed for few minutes, it's free. No way to wait for a cup of coffee for half an hr. ! Look at HK now if U still enjoy the life style and the atmosphere? I have nothing more to say haha

Vancouver is the 3rd largest city in Canada, but the city size is very small but populated. People are likely to bump to the people that they know...especially the hateful people.
Do you know how cold it is in other Canadian cities lol

Yes, so many new immigrants from HONG KONG !That is why when they said they had been here 7 months ---- I replied to them I had been here for 420 months !!
You are just in here for 7 years, and you're complaining? I have been here for over 30 yesrs and I've seen so many changes. Are you talking about the housing prices of Ottawa that you think are more reasonable than Vancouver? 17:21 . Don't you know that 20 years ago a 3000 ft brand new house in Ottawa was only $200,000. And now the same house on the exact location is already over $1.5 million. All Canadians have been facing the same problem s of yours everyday no matter whether it was 30 years ago or 7 years ago. And I am sure, it is not just the problem of Vancover, nor Toronto or Ottawa., or even in Canada. In fact, all developed Western countries like Australia, New Zealand, England, US,......etc. are all facing the same problems. So think of it this way, if you're complaining, the changes of living in Canada, please put yourself in the shoes of those local white Canadians, what do you think are on their minds about all these changes and how much have they been sacrificed for these changes ??? We should be grateful that Canada is such a tolerate and acceptance country. We can't just take it for granted.
