Ive got told alot that sitting like that is bad for the knees 🤔 Also, kids sit like that because its easier to keep the body up and dont fall down. But during my internship in kindergarden for disabled or soecial needs kids there was one with general low muscle tone and he was still sitting like this. i think both factors i creased each other. That kid had super unstable knees, he wasnt able to run as coordinated as the others and fell down a lot

Hey David! or any other people in the comments, I need your advice. I am really flexible everywhere, but for some reason my hamstrings are really tight. It is absolutely uncomfortable to stretch them, and I am scared that it has something to do with short nerves or something. Does anyone have advice for me?
@abbierose2278
15 күн бұрын
I'm by no means an expert, but I know nerve gliding helps a lot of people. In that case it's not about the length of the nerve, but about its ability to glide between the muscle fibers effectively. Personally I get a lot of stiffness in my anterior leg muscles because my lower back is tight. A few mobility exercises for my back to warm things up and get them moving helps a lot. I don't know a lot about over loading hamstrings by forcing them to work too hard, but you might want to look into strengthening not only the hamstrings, but any muscles related, especially the glutes, I think.

It’s not suggested for children to w sit, because they don’t develop proper core strength to hold themselves up properly. Literature suggests that it’s bad for the ligaments in the knees and hips, so it is definitely discouraged. Anatomy is complicated and children are capable of doing many things because they’re still developing-whether those things have negative effects down the line, is not something I can say, but I tend to approach with caution and would encourage her to sit cross legged or with her legs under her so she can develop more strength to hold up her trunk.
