Wen Hao (purple shirt guy) is a dinosaur boss who expect employees to revolve their life around their job...even in free time still want people to go brush up on their job skills. He is the type of boss to avoid.
Hardwork doesn't mean one will get promoted especially in mnc. And there have been many research that show that changing jobs every 2 years will have the best monetary remuneration in 10 years span

I don’t think stay in the company as long as possible is the best for every profession, for instance an in-house Graphic Designer the farthest you can be promoted is Creative Director. You will never take over the CEO position one day as an in-house Graphic Designer or in-house IT, no way no how unless anyone can prove me wrong. To be the CEO, most importantly u have to know the numbers how to bring in sales how to control less loss. If you are marketing or sales department then u will have higher chance to earn this CEO position. It’s really vary for profession, also 天时地利 not everything will go as planned but that’s for another discussion.

In this day and age, staying in a company for a long time is meaningless, not like one day the company will be yours also, only old thinker will advice ppl like that. What works 30 years ago definitely is not suitable for now. Just different era we are in. Opting for better offer is like leveraging different company resource to up level your skills and game.

@@soishengleong4502 yup certainly, better opportunities over loyalty if the company shows no appreciation to us.

@@Y3llow_Submarin3 Correct, Different era. How can we ensure we will earn that highest position by then? How many 10yrs we have, why not we always explore the better opportunities elsewhere. And fact is not many example of his who stay in an organisation for over decade or two and eventually take over the highest position.

Business always change dynamically, and nowsadays workforce could be easily replaced by AI, even some Top MNC companies might be phased out, acquired or liquidated one day, if they're still maintaining the conventional business way. We shall be responsible for our own living, and can just leverage the current company platform, to skill up with latest intelligence & technology trends whatever we can, try to be independently to manage a task/project/client, build up your client database / portfolio progressively, and prepare a backup plan for the rainy days. Either resuming as employed or trying to be self-employed, we shall have our own substainable way to make a living, especially for those breadwinner.

as long as my staff delivers the same quality of works with or without side jobs, why I need to bother. some bosses are just being too nosy. they want to control their staffs at work and outside of work
