Really puts in to perspective the hard life those LCA outer balljoints have - they just never stop moving other than when the cars stationary. And the track rod balljoints, they are constantly moving and wearing, not just while steering.

This is a GoPro attached with a 60lb magnetic mount to the underbody chassis... therefore, the car's springs are actually damping the camera for itself! If you check out some of my other videos, the same camera/mount is used on my Miata and others...

Interesting the track rod is lower than the outer ball joint, hence 90% of bump steer driver correction inputs will be in towards the car

This was the top of the line model for the W124 until the later 400E, E420... I am not aware of any progressive springs on these... even the 500E.

Верхнего рычага нет удивительно ) думал что как на жигулях но нифига не так, тут амортизатор стоит как ПП стойка в каком то дичайшем касторе с опорниками сверху наверняка ШС, а пружина стоит как на жига классике.

Yes, they had done that for awhile, I think they integrated them with the W210 model that came after this!

@@يزيدقازان Money, money, money. These were expensive to produce, and were higher maintenance than more traditional coil-over struts. They also wear out the springs easier because of the curve in the coil travel.

@@يزيدقازان I have not owned a W211 but one of my best friends did. Air suspension is great, coils are just basic as far as ride is concerned. They are just different. The big thing is maintenance costs. The strut with adjacent coil like the W124 was more likely edged out of production due to modern crash standards. It's impossible to compare the two cars side by side since there is over 20 years difference in age/design between them. Neither is wrong, neither is realistically better than the other.

These are the OEM Sachs "Komfort" shocks, exactly what was on the car from the factory. Part numbers may be slightly different from the diesel to the gas, but usually that is cared for in spring rates rather than shocks, but best to check to be sure.

Yup, long travel coils! There are Sportline springs that drop the car a couple of inches without negative effects on ride.

Very true. My last W124 sedan before the 300E was an E300 Diesel, that made it all the way to 498K miles with only routine maintenance... it was lost in a street flood unfortunately.
