I listen to this perfectly conducted and played Rienzi's Ouverture through the years again and again. And I always get goose pimples from it. And I love how sensitive and gentle Klaus Tennstedt conduct it!! Thank you!! It's definitely a smoother, restrained performance, and very enjoyable. What makes music fascinating is the interpretation. This would be almost the polar opposite of Solti, but I enjoy both styles, and reckon Dick Wagner would as well, as he had an open mind.

Tennstedts Mahler 1 with Chicago SO is the absolute best piece of all times. It is unbelievable, outstanding and wonderful. Although he was a Violinist, he really pulls the best out of the Brass. I will never know why he is the most underestimated conductor in Germany until today!
